ReutersI’ve written plenty of posts on PFT over the years, but there’s no question that this is the unlikeliest one I’ve had the pleasure of composing for you.
Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh’s various misadventures with kicks haven’t given him much of a reputation for kindness to those competing against him, but one of Suh’s competitors on the celebrity diving show “Splash” would probably argue otherwise. TMZ reports that Suh helped rescue the comedian Louie Anderson from possible injury at a taping of the show this week.
Per the report, Anderson became exhausted after practicing several dives and wasn’t able to extricate himself from the pool without falling back in over and over again. Suh and Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis came to Anderson’s aid by lifting him out of the pool. Anderson’s rep said that his client is feeling fine after the momentary scare.
Some of Suh’s Lions teammates were reportedly upset that Suh was filming the show because of the risk of injury, a concern that seems misplaced among the group of contestants.

that picture of suh is saving me from having no spank material. thanks big guy. xoxo. now where’s my sock?
Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction
Bellyflop sounds about right.
I bet Suh kicked Anderson after they got him out of the pool though.
I’m not trying to discount what Suh did, but come one….he helped a guy get out of a pool. No big deal.
Good stuff, young man.
“Some of Suh’s Lions teammates were reportedly upset that Suh was filming the show because of the risk of injury”
Honestly, he’s probably much safer in the water than he is on the road.
All jabs aside, Kudos to Suh for helping save the day here. Good job.
Probably a joke, or two, in there somewhere, but good for Suh.
I wonder how much he will be fined…Suh is a nice guy people, hopefully one day everyone will realize this and get off his back
I honestly thought Louis Anderson was dead. Haven’t heard about him in years.
And aren’t Suh and Anderson both too heavy to be diving off a diving board?
When Suh is a 70-year-old man, gazing out into the middle distance as he contemplates his life, I bet he’s going to reminisce about his younger years, and think, “I’m so glad I did that celebrity diving show.”
Diving is an extremely dangerous sport and I can understand his team mate’s concern. While I can see Suhbeing fit enough and a good enough an athlete to do some diving, I can’t imagine Louie Anderson as a participant and my first thought is LIABILITY!!!
When are they going to do Celebrity Tobogganing? Or how about Celebrity Air Guitar?
“Anderson became exhausted after practicing several dives and wasn’t able to extricate himself from the pool without falling back in over and over again.”
Louie is way overweight and has been for a long time now. Lose some weight, Louie.
When I first read the headline, I thought it said “DRIVING mishap.”
Thought it ironic that Captain Crash would be helping anyone behind the wheel.
Good for him.
This diving thing is just an attempt by Suh to try to repair some of the self inflicted damage to his name. Wow he is a hero now. Give me a break.
When I saw the article I bet a friend that someone would make a lame joke about Suh kicking someone within the first five comments. Thanks agelardi for coming through for me. Your wit is priceless.
Surprised there was still water in the pool after Louie dove in.

No Big Deal!!!! Louie is huge!!!!! Couldn’t be a bigger deal.
Lifting Louie is impressive but the smart move would have been to simply point to the ladder.
From car wrecks to train wrecks….Now Suh helps over the hill unfunny “comedians”?
Wouldn’t Louie just float, anyway?
are there no lifeguards? At least Suh is finally getting some positive publicity…hard to spin a story like this unless of course it was staged…jk
Openly critisze Suh for diving, yet remain quiet (for the most part) on Titus Young Sr… Plus his teammates should know that anytime you are able to limit his time behind the wheel, you are doing something positive for the team.
Louie Anderson? Cannonball!!!!
That would be like pulling a volkswagen outta the pool.
What, they didn’t have certified lifeguards at this event?
Too bad he couldn’t save his team from drowning during their nosedive this year.
I’m having visions of Suh and Louganis doing a “rock/paper/scissors” over who gives Louie Anderson CPR……..
Regardless of Suh’s reputation on the field, he deserves praise here…Good job, sir.
He just keeps making bad decisions.
Did he push him in?
The NFL still fined him.
really! lets give him the Nobel peace prize for pulling an overweight and under conditioned Louie Anderson out of the water. as much as I think suh is a douche I would be more surprised if he were such a piece of garbage that he would allow another person to drown.
