Ryan Clady needs shoulder surgery

Ryan Clady Pic

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady, who is an impending free agent, will require surgery to repair a shoulder injury suffered in Denver’s regular season finale.

The injury is not expected to affect Clady’s availability for the season opener in 2013, but the surgery is extensive enough that Clady will miss “much” of the Broncos’ offseason program.

Despite the surgery, Klis calls Clady “certain” to be franchise tagged by the Broncos if the sides don’t come to a long-term contract agreement.

Clady dropped out of the Pro Bowl because of the injury. He has started all 80 games of his career, earning Pro Bowl trips in three of his five NFL seasons.

Clady is 26 years old.
