People get lost on the value of real money when they talk about athletes and movie stars. 1,000,000 per year to play football 16 times a year is a great deal of money, let alone 7,500,000.
Hope he does stay with the Bears.

People saying he’s done are just looking for a reaction or extremely naive.

With a pay cut, he could still be very useful to The Bears. Maybe he could drop a little weight and take reduced snaps. I’m willing to take a slower, older Urlacher on the field more than anyone in a Bears uniform right now. No one lining up on that defense can lead the team like he does.

In my opinion…

1) The Bears have been very busy with their reorganization and haven’t talked to Brian yet.
2) Brian is making these comments to communicate his wish to stay with the team.
3) If the Bears offer him a one year extension he’ll stay. If not, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he announces his retirement.

If he retires I hope the Bears have the good sense to retain him as a Line Backer Coach or Assistant Defensive Coordinator. His body might be aging but his mind has a plethora of knowledge that could be put to good use while he stays “at home” in Chicago.

If I could talk to him I’d say;
You’ve given your body to this sport long enough. I don’t want to see you carried broken off the field in some future game with a permanent debilitation. Retire now so the fans still remember you as a “Monster of the Midway” and not some faded star of the past. Keep in the game, coach the future.

BRAIN54′s best option for life after football is to take whatever offer he gets from the Bears. The Bears best ‘win now’ option is to try and milk 2 more years. They should draft a few LBs and see if they land b4 investing a high draft pick.

Urlacher is a great Bears player, and will find a place in history…give him a 2 year player contract and convert him to a Coach…if Chris “Hitman” Harris got a coaching gig so can Urlacher…with the BEARS

If Urlacher is wise, he will take the pay cut, remain a Bear, enter the HOF(?able). He would likely find himself as a linebacker’s coach with the NFL. Also, the fact that he has called the D plays for several years, DC is not out of the question.

It may behove Brian to think before the much to often fecal dialog he shares at times can have detrimental effect.

Players and coaches votes count for two thirds of the total votes needed to get into the Pro Bowl. He’s been to 8. Enough said. He’s a future Hall of Famer.

And for the record, Favre is going to the Hall of Fame as well. How’s that for overrated.

Occasionally you read a post on here that changes your opinion, or makes you think. However, the other 90% just make you realize that someone has to make the fries.

his loyalty to Lovie. 9 years of Urlacher’s career and NO Superbowl ring. he should be glad Lovie is gone. and the only reason he aint beating a drum right now is because he dont have a contract. and the Best offer he will get will be
