So many are willing to ignore the fact the Saints conducted an "unprecedented" cover up while the league was investigating the organization. One has to look no further than Anthony Hargrove's own statement in which he confirms that both Vitt and Williams told him to deny everything to investigators. That's just on small example.

When the owner of an organization has to hire the former director of the FBI and a federal judge to investigate his OWN employees something is terribly wrong. Try doing that in your own line of work and see what happens. Payton, Vitt and Williams categorically admitted that the Saints lied to the NFL. The organization got EXACTLY what is deserved.

No evidence of bounty program? Judge Berrigan stated that Vilma admitted to Goodell's allegations in her courtroom. Tagliablue agreed the evidence supported the allegations against the Saints, Vilma, Smith and Hargrove. All he did was vacate the punishments because he felt the players were forced to participate by their coaches. That three member arbitration panel? They made absolutely no finding as to the merits of the claims. They reversed Goodell based solely on technical grounds.

Get over it. The owners who, you know own, the league want a strong leader. Goodell fits the bill, and that's all that matters.

Goodell isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Might was well get used to it. And find another target to vent your authority figure issues towards.

How many times does it require to remind short minded people that the Saints did not have a "Pay to Injure" program? The Saints had a "Pay for Performance" program (and a large majority of other teams in the league came out and admitted as well). During the so-called program, the Saints had one of the least number of injured players on the opposing team. Google it. It's not that hard.

The WHODAT NATION don't give a rats butt about Roger Goodell and how he feel. He better cool out before someone let the dogs out, the fans some of them trying to show some respect toward him.
And did Godell gave proper punishment to the New England Patriots??

Patriots cheated THREE TEAMS out of their CHAMPIONSHIP!! Saints' bounty money was mostly legitimate hits. When I played HS and College football, we would have HOTW (Hit Of The Week) where players on offense or defense are rewarded for hard hitting and we get pizza or steak money. I don't see anything wrong with that as long as hits are legitimate and before the whistle is blown and not flagged!! Big difference!

The difference? Saints were punished harder for something that is in grey area while Patriots were punished lesser than Saints for a BIG NO-NO!!

Shame on you Godell!!

Maybe Roger saw some of those signs and posters in New Orleans this week about how he would be treated when he got to town, LOL…..saints* fans were bragging after Tags’ ruling that there was nothin’ more Goodell could do to them……….guess again!! And they will contnue to talk until Goodell gives them another reminder later on. The ultimate will be when their “beloved owner” goes to the NFL in a couple of years and asks to move the team and Goodell gives him the green light!! Can’t wait.
===================================

Let's see if I have this straight. According to your enlightened insight, the Saints will be moving out of New Orleans shortly. Never mind the fact that every seat for every game has been sold out since the Saints returned to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Let's forget also that the current waiting list for season tickets tops the 50,000 mark. Pay absolutely no attention to the fact that hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent to renovate the Superdome and the adjacent areas. Take no notice of the fact the Benson recently purchased the NBA's Hornets and that moving the Saints will kill any chance of having success in that venture.

Care to put your money where your mouth is? I didn't think so.

You and Roger Goodell have one thing in common. No one should take anything that either of you say seriously.

saintsfan26,

Do you really know 10,000 people? Even if there are 10,000 of you who would have each otherwise purchased several hundred dollars worth of merchandise, you are depriving the league of no more than a million dollars.

The concussion lawsuits, on the other hand, could potentially bankrupt the league.

Trust me, the league would rather miss out on a few million in T-shirt revenue than pay 2500+ former players six to eight figure settlements/judgements.

Due to the CBA there is no way to effectively battle Goodell's tyranny. And the next CBA is many years away. It would be my hope that when the next negotiations start the players simply say that no agreement will be signed unless the commissioner is stripped of all his powers of punishment, to be replaced by an independent system requiring real evidence and real fairness. I think the fans would be fully behind the players, considering how this commissioner has levied fines and other punishments without precedent, without real evidence, and without any thought whatever to fairness. His only consideration is the overflowing pocketbooks of the owners and how to make those pocketbooks hold even more money.

You read something last week about God-Dell and Katrina and think you know something! You don't know a damn thing. Nobody forced Benson to keep the Saints in NO. Certainly not God-Dell!

God-Dell got duped by a lying ex-employee who the Saints fired because he was total scum. God-Dell jumped to conclusions, didn't check anything and now doesn't have the balls to admit that he was that stupid to begin with! That is the real "scandal".

To benh99:

I agree with your post's logic. I can't argue with what you just said. For now anyways.

But when Goodell single-handedly destroys the NFL with his lies and hypocrisy, and exposes the NFL to the general public for what it is, I think you might change your mind. Goodell has taken an entire fan base, The Who Dat Nation, and turned them against him. I know about 10,000 Who Dats myself who will be boycotting all NFL products. The word will spread quickly. Now just wait till he does this to your team. Its only a matter of time before you hate him too. The NFL is providing bad service to its customers. Let us not forget where the owners get their money from. The fans. As a customer of the NFL, I do not appreciate them lying to me.

So in the end, you will eventually see, like how us Who Dats see, that Roger Goodell* is not only the WORST Commissioner in all of sports.. But he is also a liar, a hypocrite and a terrible human being with no integrity whatsoever. Roger Goodell* is not a man.

When he first said he would consider giving back the pick, the condition of it’s value in the draft was NOT mentioned as criteria. Someone above already quoted what was to be considered. Now, they give this other excuse about it not being high enough to give back.

So basically, Goodell is still making it up as he goes along, just as he has done from the beginning of this “scandal.”

I love the morons on here that say that this was "cheating"! How? Even if they did what GOD-dell said (and a judge, 3 NFL reviewers and Tag went directly against that), how is motivating a player by any means "cheating"?

And for all those who are fans of other teams - they were doing player funded performance pools just like the Saints. Period!!

Goodell works for the owners, who are currently being sued by former players over concussions. He best serves his employers by helping to mitigate their financial exposure, which is in this case demonstrating how tough the league is on disciplining players/coaches who orchestrate a system where causing injuries to opponents is rewarded with cash.

Like it or not, he does not work for the fans. His job performance is directly tied to the owners' bottom line.

Tagliabue, on the other hand, while more popular with Saints' fans also may very well have played a role in covering up what the league new of concussion risks, thus exposing his employers to financial loss. This makes him a worse commissioner.

Saying you’re going to consider doing something and not doing it does not make you a liar.
---------------------------

He did not consider anything.

He said 10 month ago
"IF the Saints COOPERATE with the NFL and "assist in the development and implementation of programs to instruct players and coaches at all levels on principles of player safety, fair play, and sportsmanship" the league will consider "modifying" the forfeiture of their 2013 second-round draft pick."

What has he said today?

The reason we’re not returning any of the draft choices or reversing any of the discipline is because we still believe the Saints ran a bounty program for three years.

LOL
He is a big liar.
