Luck and the Colts excelled despite BA. There are 3 types of combos. A great QB who makes his teammates better and makes the coach look like a genius(Luck). A great coach who can make a QB better than he is(Jim Harbaugh), and a good QB who can make stuff happen and make up for deficiencies in other positions but isn’t quite good enough to make the coach look like a genius( Big Ben). This of course ignores the bad QB and or / coach combos.

That being said, he did not deserve this award. A HC is responsible for the following. Putting a staff of assistants together, work with the GM to get the players who will make up the team, determining what the scheme of defense and offense will be for the year. All of this is Chuck Pagano’s doing. This was his boat and BA got to steer it until he came back. This award should have been issued as a co-coach of the year. Lets see how BA does after he his able to put his own team together.

that Luck would have growing pains and the fact the HC coach goes down and Arian slides in and
coaches his ass off with a bright eyed Luck shined and I’m no fan of horse shoe or Luck.

have to admit I agree with the awards distribution this year.

This award is not about game scores, it is about exceeding expectations. The Colts were a 2-12 team, starting a rookie QB and young WR/TE’s AND THEN, losing their head coach to cancer. Yet they made the playoffs, defeated a handful of playoff teams along the way, and played well in almost every game. Mostly, under the watch of Bruce Arians. Considering that this Colts team was picked to finish 3rd in their division by most analysts, this season definitely stands out more to me than what any other team has done this year.
