Dolphins congratulate Bill Parcells on his Hall of Fame induction

Of the various stops during Bill Parcells’ stop-and-start career, his least success came in Miami, where a first-year playoff berth in his job as V.P. of football operations disintegrated into a franchise that continues to struggle to compete for the postseason.

But the Dolphins are being very gracious, congratulating Parcells for his induction into the Hall of Fame.

“I want to congratulate Bill Parcells on his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” owner Stephen Ross said.  “He had his own unique style in building a successful organization and instilled a winning mindset at all levels as both a coach and executive. While he might have had different levels of success at each of the teams he worked for, he always left each franchise far better off than how he found it.”

He definitely left the Dolphins better off than how he found them, in part because he found them at 1-15.  But they’re still a long way from being among the best teams in the league, punctuated by the first big decision Parcells made there — choosing Jake Long over Matt Ryan with the first pick in the 2008 draft.

  1. He ruined the Dolphins as bad as he ruined Dallas….hope it doesn’t take us as long here to recover as it has taken Dallas!

NOTHING he did with himself in Miami was a success….yet the droolers still drool and the media swoons.

congrats on the hall Parcells…thanks for nothing!

    Go Phins!!!

  2. I agree with Florio that Parcells left the Dolphins better than he found them at 1-15.

But the odds are a lab monkey could have done just as well at a fraction of the cost.

  3. Happy for the Tuna and the 2 Trophies he brought to the swamp

The man has made every team he joined better did he not draft Brady in NE?

  4. Parcells definitely screwed the Dolphins in a ton of ways, but choosing Jake Long wasn’t one of them. Long looked like a lock for the HOF his first two seasons. No one could have predicted his downfall and consistent injuries.

Regardless, Parcells still did absolutely nothing for Miami.

  5. Bill Parcells is well deserving of the HoF. His run as coach in NYG, NYJ, & NE cement his HoF talent. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

  6. Parcells doesn’t belong in the HOF period. He has a career losing record without Belichek as his DC. It was Belichek that beat the Bills in that Super Bowl, not Parcells. He totally stunk in Miami and set them back years. He was way, way overrated and without Belichek, we would not even be talking about this big mouth tonight.

  7. Ahhhh, To think of all the one and done playoff losses the Dolphins could have had by now if only they grabbed Matty Ice.

  8. 2 super bowls, took 4 different franchises to the playoffs… three different franchises to conference championship games… think of a lot of great coaches, and theres a hof qb standing next to him with which they had most if not all of their success. Not parcells.

  9. You fellas don’t know anything, Ross wanted to be a celebrity owner, he got the celebrity and loss Parcells, besides they would have never let him in had he not left and retired. I hope he returns like, Gibbs and returns to coaching.

I won’t argue with people who hate Parcells but I will quote him” your record say’s what you are”
and he is in the HALL.
