HOF meeting ends, just in time

At a time when it seemed as if the Hall of Fame voters would need more time in order to finalize the latest Hall of Fame class, they got it done.  In the nick of time.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, one of the 46 voters, has said on Twitter that the meeting is over and that a class of Hall of Famers has been determined.

Previously, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News suggested that the expected announcement at 5:30 p.m. ET possibly would be delayed.

The work began at 8:30 a.m. ET, and Darin Gantt (who has one of the votes) told me last night that he expected the process to take roughly nine hours.

Gantt was right.  Now, we play the waiting game.

Chris Carter should have already been in. When he retired he was 2nd all time in yards, TD’s and catches not sure why he get’s no love at the HOF?

Andre Reed, no brainier. He’s the Curtis Marin of WRs. If CM gets in on the first try (very deserving), Reed should get in by now.

Andre Reed should be in the HOF before any first year player or some coach! Same for Chris Carter!

Just for the record, Ray Guy will now be considered by the senior committee. That’s why he’s not in the running.
And frankly, its long overdue that he gets in.

I love the NFL HoF. For me, they represent the elite in all of sport(s). Knowing Darin Gantt has a vote sickens me.

Its such a sham that Cris Carter isn’t in! I mean, Cortez Kennedy gets in, but not Cris Carter?

I’m a Green Bay fan, and yes it drove me bonkers when he came down with the catch in triple coverage. Induct him already!!

It must have taken extra time for the Cleveland folks to scream and shout enough to keep Art Modell out again, this time posthumously.
