I think “intolerance” includes denying business licenses to Chik-Fil-A in Boston, New York and Chicago. You either protect freedom of speech completely or you lose it.

I read an article out of SF this week that says the police force and city leaders are preparing for, and trying to minimize, any rioting that may emerge as a result of a victory (or loss?).

I’ll never understand why a celebratory moment involves the wanton destruction of someone else’s property.

Not sure if I’m correctly following your comment here, but I’m always surprised when people can’t seem to be able to tell the difference between differences of opinions and intolerance and bigotry. Saying, as the San Fran player did this week, that he wouldn’t be ok with having a gay teammate is not at all like saying he doesn’t agree with being gay. The guy can have a personal opinion about anything he wants. That is not the issue. The issue is that he is potentially aiding in setting up an environment where people are excluded from being allowed to be in a safe and tolerant working environment. He is perpetuating a system of not only intolerance but segregation. That is not acceptable in any workplace.

As a Bengals fan, it sucks seeing both Ahmad Brooks and Justin Smith playing in the SB with another team (especiall San Fran). However, in the Reedy story, it wasn’t very clear to me what Brooks felt were the “political” reasons he was traded away. The guy was injured quite a bit, and it’s always difficult to know when to cut your losses.
