Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw’s dealt with foot issues for much of his career and they necessitated another trip to the doctor in the first month of the offseason.

Bradshaw revealed that he had a procedure done in January to replace a screw in his right foot with a larger one. He was wearing a walking boot while making the rounds in New Orleans and said that he should have had the surgery last year instead of undergoing a stem cell treatment that wore off during the 2012 season.

“This is very well-needed,” Bradshaw said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. “They said it was something that I should have gotten last year. But you can’t look back at it like that. I feel like I feel a little bit better after every surgery.”

Bradshaw pinned his recovery time as 10 weeks, which should mean he’s healthy for the start of the team’s offseason program. Or the start of any team’s offseason program since Bradshaw also addressed the possibility he won’t be back with the Giants.

Bradshaw, slated to make $3.75 million in 2013 and $4 million in 2014, admitted there was a chance the Giants could choose to release him and go with a David Wilson/Andre Brown duo at running back if they’re “light on cash.” There’s been no indication that the Giants are looking to go in that direction, but with other deals needing to get done it isn’t a possibility to discard out of hand.
