jwreck – i think the RG3 will only face off against Kap this coming year. I believe the NFC East playes the AFC West next year and the NFC North. The other two games the Skins will play is against San Fran and Atlanta (both division winners). He will not play Wilson or Luck next year.

I can’t disagree with you, but I can point out that that’s exactly what I said.

The Ravens were already in line for quite a few prime time games.

JUST going off their HOME opponents next year:

Pittsburgh, New England, Houston, Green Bay, Minnesota, NYJ(Rex Ryan vs. former team), Bengals(usually a close/tough division game)

Then of course… there is the other half of the schedule where they travel which includes another game against Pittsburgh, then Chicago and Denver.

I’m going to assume the NFL does everything they can to make the season opener New England @ Baltimore if the Ravens win it all.

Additionally, while divisional rivalries are always fun, there don’t seem to be many really big interdivisional or interconference matchups coming up in 2013. Perhaps the NFL is so concerned with Robert Griffin’s knee because Griff versus Kaep could be a really great match-up (or a boring, colossal beat-down, depending on how much secondary help Washington gets this year).

Either way, next year expect to see a lot more of the players who made the NFL so exciting and volatile this year on Sunday and Monday nights.

And before anyone tells me how dumb I am for saying “there don’t seem to be many really big interdivisional or interconference matchups coming up in 2013″; Kaepernick plays Griffin, Wilson, and Luck, not to mention a rematch against Ryan. Additionally, Peyton plays Luck in what could either be another great match-up or another boring, colossal beat-down. So basically 50% of what I said above is wrong, but I’m not going back to fix it now.

If the Redskins shore up the defense and add a little speed on the offense, they may well go from a top 10 position to a top 5.

I hate to disagree with yon this, because I agree with everything else you said, and obviously DC’s defensive backfield may be one of the least talented units of any kind in the NFL (Arizona’s offensive backfield maybe). But I’m not really sure how much speed Washington needs. They were 4th in total points, have three starting receivers who run between a 4.3 and 4.4, we and were 9th in the league in time of possession (which doesn’t sound that great, but the difference between 1 and 9 is literally 90 seconds). Regardless of whether the defense improves or not, Washington’s game plan should contuinue to be clock control and consistent scoring, not additional speed.

I suspect that there will be more NFC East primetime games then those involving the last 8 teams that were in the playoffs.

Manning going back to Indy will be one of the primetime games, the Superbowl winner obviously opening night…if the TV execs have any sense, one or both of the Seattle/SF games should be primetime, and then a Pats game…but outside of that, its which NFC East games they can squeeze in first, and then build the rest of the primetime schedule after that.
