There are lots of fans who are hoping for the mother of all snow and ice storms during next year’s Super Bowl just to stick it to Roger Goodell and his idiotic decision to hold it in a cold weather stadium. Of course, Goodell won’t be affected as he’s sitting in a nice warm luxury suite.

2 of 8 CFL teams play indoors, and a 3rd (Montreal) goes indoors for playoffs only. Roughly 50% of Grey Cups are outdoors.

Aside from the payday of course, I’d hate to be a rock act playing a guitar in frigid weather. I’ve done in in the upper-20s before, and wow is it hard to pick a note in that kind of weather. Not to mention the strings breaking. But I’m guessing the millions of dollars offered to do so might help me warm up (see what I did there!) to the idea.

If they can have concerts outdoors for the New Year’s Eve shows, I would think it could be done in a stadium.

C’Mon, those that say NO to the game in NY/NJ are a bunch of whiny women.

Was Lombardi filmed in earmuffs and a big overcoat? Many times.

Did frozen fields come into play in the Championship games? More than once.

Is it “real football” playing in bad weather. Of course.

Do the folks in Green Bay and Chicago and Buffalo and Philly and Washington have to deal with that kind of weather? Certainly.

Give me a chance at a ticket for that NY/NJ game, and I’ll be there… bundled up, of course, with something stronger than coffee in my cup, of course… but loving every minute of a championship game played outside.

And I’ll have a story for the grandkids….

One way or another, it’s going to happen. Prince played an electric guitar in a raging downpour in Miami a few years ago. In all likelihood, there won’t be a major snowstorm, but even if there is there will be a contingency plan for it, like designing a stage that rests on skis or something. And they’ll know at least a few days in advance that it’s coming.

The games being played in New Jersey, not New York. just because the teams that play there misidentify themselves as being from NY for marketing purposes, the stadium is PHYSICALLY located in a state that is not called New York.

NFL needs a halftime act that rocks and doesn’t lip sync. Bruce and Bon Jovi are the logical local picks, but for a great performance that has wide appeal…… FOO FIGHTERS!

@benh999….there was light snow in my part of NJ at the end of the game Sunday night. You know? NJ? Where the game will actually be played? Which is nuts. As a NJ native and resident for 45 years, we have had huge snowstorms in the time period the game is slated for. I plan on sitting back in my living room and laughing at the folks who paid big bucks to freeze their butts offs

Bon Jovi would make sense. New Jersey natives, so they’d probably jump at the chance, amid the weather. They wouldn’t need to put together a complicated staged with a coreographed, overly rehearsed performance. Or does this make too much sense to happen?

All the people complaining about an outdoor Super Bowl, would never go to it anyways and will just stay at home and watch the game on TV so who cares? And as for the halftime show, if they could do it in the snow up here in Canada during the CFL Grey Cup I’m pretty sure the people in New York can figure it out

Am I the only one who noticed there was no precipitation in the NYC area during this year’s Super Bowl? We routinely see playoff games in the snow — why would a Super Bowl with snow be that unthinkable?

The people in the Super Dome where hardly “trapped”. The weather however in NY could prevent many people from even getting to the game let alone let them leave. Also if I remember right that brand new dump the Maras built lost power at least twice during games.
