In theory yeah one game shouldn’t define a player who a long history games to evaluate(good or bad) but we’ve see in year in year out.

GMs get sucked into getting guys that are combine work out warriors, highlight reel players, etc.

Hell it even happens with players already in the league. Matt Flynn parlayed 2 games against the Pats and Lions into a millions and he’s currently riding the bench.

The entire ND defense looked bad vs. Bama. It wasn’t Te’o's best game & it was against their best opponent, so I can see the criticism but if one player’s draft status is based on how they played one game in four seasons, I doubt the evaluator would keep his job for very long. Tyrann Mathieu got abused in the NC game last year against Bama but he was still a Heisman finalist. Again, I’m not saying he’s the next Mike Singletary but he was definitely one of the best LB in CFB over the last few years.

The truth is that the poll went something like this:

1. Have you heard of X player?
2. Do you have a positive or negative feeling about X player?

That doesn’t make a guy hated. Makes him identifiable and the butt of jokes.

True, but he was depending on his leadership intangibles to make teams look past his negatives. Now, nobody is looking at him as a leader but are probably already wondering what crazy things the veterans will make him do as part of rookie hazing. He may be the first guy ever hoping his ability to provide comedy relief will move him up the draft board.

Too many networks focus a ton on what athletes and “celebs” tweet it has become nauseating. With all the hash-tagging nonsense soon the English dictionary will become obsolete.
