The Giants let three members of the 2012 rosters go this week and they’ve decided to bring back two others.
Tight end Bear Pascoe and defensive tackle Shaun Rogers have both signed contracts for the 2013 seasons. Rogers spent the year on injured reserve after developing a blood clot in his leg over the summer. With Chris Canty gone, there will be snaps for the taking at the position.
Pascoe was set to be a restricted free agent this offseason, but the Giants put off dealing with that by just going ahead and signing him to a one-year deal. Multiple reports peg the value of that deal at $715,000.
Pascoe’s mostly been a blocker in his four years with the team, compiling 26 catches for 252 yards and a touchdown over that period. He should return to that role, even if Martellus Bennett leaves as a free agent. Travis Beckum has been hurt more than healthy throughout his time with the Giants and the team would be looking for a starter with a larger skillset than Pascoe.
