A whopping 333 invitations have been extended to college prospects to attend the NFL Combine later this month.

The combine, held from Feb. 20-26 in Indianapolis, will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

West Virginia University quarterback Geno Smith and USC quarterback Matt Barkley are among the invitees at the quarterback position. Neither Smith or Barkley attended the Senior Bowl two weeks ago in Mobile, Ala. The pair are considered by most to be the top two quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL draft.

University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has been invited to the combine as a wide receiver. Robinson also played wide receiver during the Senior Bowl.

The positional breakdown is as follows:

Quarterback: 16
Running Back: 38
Wide Receiver: 39
Tight Ends: 19
Offensive Line: 58
Defensive Line: 54
Linebackers: 35
Defensive Backs: 60
Kickers/Special Teams: 14

  1. where’s Matt Mcgloin? set passing record at penn state and led big ten this year! bet he will be a New England project but not a Russell Wilson, but should have made the combine!

I disagree. It seems like Mike Glennon and Tyler Wilson are regularly being ranked ahead of Barkley.

  3. I still don’t understand why Denard Robinson is getting invites to things like the combine and the senior bowl as a receiver. Aside from the fact that he was very ineffective at the position for the 2-3 games he played there isn’t he taking a spot from someone who actually put in the work for years at the position and actually deserves to be there?
I understand that the national sports media is totally obsessed with the University of Michigan (in spite of the fact that their basketball and football programs had a string of pretty bad seasons up until recently) but how about giving the people who deserve it a shot?

  4. So, some WR who played the position all through college gets bumped by a sub-par QB who wants to try and switch to WR?

It is almost laughable how badly the game of football thinks it needs Denard Robinson.

Denard seems like a decent enough kid. I just dont understand how he ends up with Draftable value in the NFL. He doesnt fit in anywhere. His size alone should elimate him from anything but a walk on role someplace.

Anyway, Denard’s presence at the combine will make a few more people tune in and watch I guess.

  5. Magic man: you are so spot on…..KC makes a big mistake if they take Gino Smith…..The guy is a big sham….he will be a huge flop… no feeling sorry for KC if they tak him
