Jacoby Jones: We’re a great team, we’re scary, we can repeat

Five days after the Ravens won the Super Bowl, receiver and returner Jacoby Jones said he doesn’t see why they can’t win another one next year.

Jones said on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access Friday that he believes the Ravens can win it all again in the season ahead.

“Why not? Yeah, we can. We have a great team,” Jones said. “We’re scary. Bernard Pierce, he’s a rookie - he can play. We have Ray [Rice], he comes out of the backfield catching the ball and running. And then we have young receivers that people don’t even know about. We’re scary. I want everybody to back to sleep on us like they did already.”

Jones had a Super Bowl record 290 all-purpose yards, but said he does not believe he deserved to be the Most Valuable Player.

“No. I just played my role,” Jones said. “I did my job that I was supposed to do. When they call your name, you have to show up and play your role. I played my role. Joe Flacco deserves it because if you see what he did in that postseason, he threw 11 touchdowns and no picks.”

Jones also said that his 56-yard touchdown catch in the Super Bowl came on a play that the Ravens knew all week was going to work perfectly based on their film study of the 49ers’ secondary.

“Football is a chess match sometimes,” Jones said. We watched film. It was a play we dialed up and we knew they’d play coverage a certain way. [Chris Culliver and Donte Whitner] both bit and Joe threw a perfect ball.”

Jones was confident about that play heading into the Super Bowl, and he’s already feeling confident about next year’s Super Bowl.
