Rice at $7.7 mil, Reed at $10mil, Suggs $11m, it goes on (is Ngata’s cap hit really $17.9 mil in 2013? WOW).

That’s a pretty big deal. The previous seasons credit went more to the defense winning the games and Flacco not losing them. This year the Ravens defense was lackluster and a lot of it was squarely on the shoulders of #5.

That being said, is it worth spending 20 million out of 120 in cap on *any* player. Is Manning worth it in Denver or Brady in New England? Is Brees worth it in New Orleans? They all watched the Super Bowl from the same place as myself (and my beloved Steelers).

It is hard to maintain a competitive team with all the money tied up in a couple players. If Flacco is willing to backload his contract until TV money kicks in and spread a signing bonus out of six years to save the team from cap issues it might make it easier for the Ravens to pay him.

At the end of the day we will see how much his “heart is in Baltimore” once the dollars are all laid on the table.

-Superbowl champion

To the people who like fantasy football he’s not elite. Too Ravens fans like myself, keep up what you are doing Joe because wins and championships count. He will be a Raven for at least another 5 years!

Out of his 5 year career he’s only had a “good” WR group his last two years. With that he gave the Ravens a trip to a conference championship last year and a SB win this year. They need to keep Ellerbe…that should be a no brainer. Kruger is good but but the REAL reason for his second half of the season success was really due to the return of Suggs on the opposite side. Even not at a 100% Suggs still required the kind of attention that allowed Kruger to get free on QB’s. To me, the bigger issue here is their ability to retain Bolden after signing Flacco. Losing him would be a big….big mistake.

Ravens offered him a long term deal last season 16 million I think he turned it down thinking he should get 20 million a season. Flacco had a great post season I will admit and maybe he’ll be better under Caldwell next season but let’s not forget before the playoffs there questions about what the Ravens would do with Flacco because of his inconsistent play. I still think 16 mil is more than fair and if Flacco hadn’t have played lights out in the playoffs I think he would have gotten the tag only to see if he’s really the starter with Caldwell getting a whole season as OC.
