After a lengthy search for a new defensive coordinator, the St. Louis Rams finally have their guy.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Rams plan to hire Detroit Lions defensive backs coach Tim Walton as their next defensive coordinator.
The Rams had initially looked to hire new New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan for the position before ultimately mutually agreeing to go their separate ways.
Walton interviewed for the position this week before being offered the job. Per Tim Twentyman of the Lions official website, Walton had interviewed for a spot on Jeff Fisher’s staff a season ago before ultimately staying in Detroit.
The Rams had also interviewed Minnesota Vikings linebackers coach Mike Singletary and former Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Dick Jauron before hiring Walton.
