Alright enough already 49ers fans. Your team lost. And, I’m getting pretty tired of hearing you cry about it. You’re reminding me of the Vikings fans who want to put the lost to the Saints in the NFC championship game on the fact there was a bounty in place. Never mind the fact that they turned the ball over six time that day. Do, yoursleves and everyone else a favor. Get over it. And, for all you idiots who are shouting about a east coast bias. The last time I checked the 49ers have five superbowl trophies. The cowboys have five as well, and neither of those teams play on the east coast. The superbowl is over and the last play was a play that wasn’t called countless times in the regualar season. You got beat that day because you didn’t play sixty minutes and you’re mad because you felt entitled to the superbowl because of your history. plain and simple. suck it up and move on. And, if you must continue to cry about the issue at lest to us the favor of doing it when the post is about something concerning the game. This is about widening the field, not the last play you had in the superbowl. And, by the way niners I’m a Saints fan and I can remember on more than one occasion where you got a break against us and won a game. And, to all you low class fans and I’m not talking about all 49er fans just the ones that felt the need to come on the Saints sight prior to the Superbowl and trash our city and dome. The only trash I saw that night was your team getting beat down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing a little wider field. But, if you don't like that, they could widen the hashmarks instead. That would create a "wide side" of the field, more like in college. It would also make field goals tougher (as in college), as they wouldn't all be nearly straight on shots from the hash marks. Many wish field goals weren't such gimmes anyway. It would actually make shorter FGs tougher due to the angles if the ball were nearer the sideline.

I've thought this has made sense for a while now. When the football field dimensions were set, offensive lineman were around 180 to 200 pounds. Now that's too small to be a running back. Bigger, faster, stronger players need more room to operate. There will be strong opposition to this, but as players grew over the years they essentially "shrunk" the field, and the field probably needs to grow to accommodate for this.

There would be heavy opposition to this. For one, we don't like change to our game. But I'd rather see a small change like this that you wouldn't even really notice than see the game completely changed as we know it. If the field was 5 yards wider (2.5 yards on each side), I think that'd blend in to the game a lot more than most of the flag football rules being incorporated.

The other opposition would be that it would make it even tougher for defenses who are already at a disadvantage. I say the trade off is to have an official in the booth review all defenseless receiver and roughing the passer calls. Fair trade off I think.

The owners would be upset because they'd have to change the field which might lead to having to take out a few rows of seating and some construction costs. But I guess that would be a good barometer to measure how much the owners really care about safety, if they're willing to pay a little extra in one-time costs to keep the players safe.

Are TV ratings down and injuries up because the field isnt 35 feet wider? I mean why not just make teams play 12 on offense and 10 on defense if Goddell wants a full on offensive fantasy game. Just make his agenda blatant and get it over with.

This guy is going to kill the game that we love. Make no mistake, this is all about scoring tons of points that drive fantasy scoring and TV ratings. Its more about creating inorganic excitement rather then two teams proving whos better on any given Sunday..... Or Monday..... Or Thursday.... Or Saturday........
