Running back Cedric Benson is due to become a free agent again.  And he’ll hit the market with a clean legal docket.

Mostly.

According to the Associated Press, Benson has paid fines for a trio of citations in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

Benson forked over $452.50 for speeding (he was exceeding the posted limit by 41 miles per hour), $200.50 for driving without a valid license, and $200.50 for an animal-at-large citation.

Benson still faces another animal-at-large citation based on allegations that his two Rottweilers attacked 17 calves on a neighbor’s farm in December.  Benson goes to court on that citation next Wednesday.

Benson, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, started the first five games of the 2012 season with the Packers before suffering a foot injury.  He missed the rest of the season.
