Getty ImagesPanthers owner Jerry Richardson is in Raleigh today, finalizing plans to accept public money for upgrades to Bank of America Stadium.
The good news is he’s not asking his customers for any more of theirs.
Team president Danny Morrison told Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer the team would not raise ticket prices. It’s the third straight offseason the Panthers have held the line on costs.
Prior to that, the Panthers had raised prices eight of the previous 11 years, traditionally announcing the hike the weekend of the ACC basketball tournament, when their fans’ attention was diverted.
Team officials swear it’s a coincidence that the bills went out in mid-March, it just so happened to fall on a Friday when basketball that brings North Carolina to a standstill was being played.

“The good news is he’s not asking his customers for any more of theirs.”
So where is this *public* money coming from? Idaho? Are’nt his customers tax-payers that contributed to the public money? The only difference is that some non-customers get to pay for the upgrades, too.
Unless the fans arent taxpayers, they are paying for it.
Panthers came up with an innovative financing plan which allows citizens who don’t attend the game to subsidize those who do. It’s not a tax deductible donation, but can you really put a price on the all joyful faces in the stands?
Duke sucks
Why just screw the fans over when Jerry can screw over the whole city through taxes including those who don’t even care about the games.
