Getty ImagesLast week, there was a report that the Ravens were interested in bringing tackle Bryant McKinnie back for another season.
The feeling appears to be mutual. McKinnie’s agent Michael George told Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that McKinnie, who stepped in to do a good job at left tackle in the playoffs after spending the regular season on the bench, would be interested in returning to help the team defend their crown.
“Bryant would want to come back,” George said. “He likes it there. He likes the situation, the way it is now. He’s a free agent, so it’s up to the Ravens what happens next obviously. The intention is to see what the market says. If the Ravens want to do something, we’re definitely open to that. Obviously, it has to be right numbers for both sides.”
George said he expects a lot of demand for McKinnie’s services when free agency opens, a big change from the way it looked like things would play out when McKinnie was out of shape and taking a pay cut to remain with the Ravens at the start of the season. His conditioning has been a frequent concern over the years, but it shouldn’t cost him too much in free agency as long as he’s willing to accept the desire of teams to protect themselves financially against his failure to report in good condition.
