No surgery for Suggs, who opts to rehab torn biceps instead

Super Bowl XLVII - Baltimore Ravens v San Francisco 49ers AP

After getting a second opinion, Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs has apparently decided to not have surgery on his torn right biceps.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Suggs has chosen to rehab the injury instead.

Suggs only missed one game after the Dec. 2 injury, but wasn’t much of a factor until the playoffs started. He had two sacks and a forced fumble against the Broncos, though he was again quiet in the Super Bowl.

The 30-year-old Suggs missed the first six games recovering from Achilles surgery, and the fact he doesn’t have to go under the knife this offseason may allow the former NFL defensive player of the year to look like himself again.

I don’t know about him being quite in the Super Bowl. He may not have had a sack or fumble, but I saw him take on Delanie Walker on blocks that pushed plays to a spot where someone else made the play. He looked effective to me.

Old and slow but with more young talent and future potential than the sqeelers… and with a GM that knows how to deal with cap hell and won’t fall into the pattern of missing the playoffs every third year like a fellow AFCN team…

You wouldn’t be slightly biased would you? Tee shirts still appeal to the mentally challenged rat turd fans so getting one is good but Lombardi’s a re better.

Keep hoping Ratbirds. You’re sitting by 2 super bowl trophies. I’m swamped over here with 6. Maybe someday you’ll get there, but I seriously doubt it! Enjoy overpaying Trent dilfer 2.0.. sweet cap hell!

Sounds like you live in Pittsburgh but don’t like the steelers and that’s got to be tough. You have my sympathy but it doesn’t explain your inherent inferiority complex. I know there Are very good hospitals in Pittsburgh to help you..good luck.

I hate to bring this up to you squealer fans, but it would be unreasonable to expect the ravens to have 6 in 16 years. How long you been around?

If you really want to compare, why don’t we compare cities. We have 1958, 1959 championships. We have the 70 SB. We have the 2000 and now the 2012 SB. Lets see, that makes 5. Still with me? I realize this is higher math for yins.

We have 1 grey cup with the stallions and 2 USFL titles

By my count that makes 8 football championships for the city of Baltimore. And the last time I checked 8>6.

Now go back to school for long division yins.

The Steelers are the model of how NOT to win anything and how to get OLD and SLOW and have a WASHED up quarterback with a rag arm who just throws interceptions. The Steelers have NO running backs…an old and aging defense…a weak armed quarterback…and are an easy cream puff for the Ravens to beat for years to come..8 or 9 Superbowls in the next ten years are a GIMME for the MIGHTY RAVENS.

ppdoc, you don’t have to justify your SB win by bringing up grey cups, and the usfl. Thats real sad. Don’t be embarrassed of your win, accept it with pride.

Take jeffa’s advice, act like you’ve been there before. You’re part of the AFCN, man.

ask all the steeler fans what happened in the 40 plus years before they won anything and they act like they dont know what you are talking about. they love their history as they should but they act like they didnt suck for 40 years before they won anything. and no one outside of pitt gives a crap about your six superbowls nofool…and people see you for how you are too. so get over yourself my friend. your obsession with baltimore is bordering on true lunacy.

  24. derek2957 says: Feb 14, 2013 9:05 PM

Ravens fan here, but let’s be fair. Let’s compare the Ravens and Steelers since the Ravens came into the league.
    Wins:
    Steelers:169
    Ravens: 150
    Playoff Appearances:
    Steelers:10
    Ravens:9
    Playoff Wins:
    Steelers:14
    Ravens:14
    Superbowl Appearances:
    Steelers:3
    Ravens:2
    Superbowl Wins
    Steelers:2
    Ravens:2

Make of it what you will, just putting all the correct information out there instead of shouting about how our team is better because it existed for 30 some odd years that the Ravens did not. Yes the history of the Steelers is rich with tradition, but that is irrelevant, to who is the best team since their inception. As a Ravens fan, I still will give the slight edge to the Steelers, but it’s still fun to watch them clutch at rings that came 30 years ago because they don’t want to admit that they have won the same amount in the last 16 or 17 years that the Ravens have.

  25. rottenbellybutton says: Feb 14, 2013 9:15 PM

Foolwithdrool: Now that you realize I’m from Pittsburgh, I would appreciate you not using too big of words. What is inherent inferiority complex? Hate to be a bother but as you know it’s in our nature to be feeble minded.

  26. ppdoc13 says: Feb 14, 2013 9:22 PM

@crown – got nothing to do with justification. you squealer fans are happy to bring up the number of championships you as a city have won. never mind the fact that you have been in the NFL more than 3x as long as the ravens. when we have been around as long as you, we will have 6 just for the ravens. but certainly you can’t say that the Baltimore Colts (RIP) 1970 championship doesn’t count when you are counting yours from the 70′s. And just because there was no Lombardi Trophy in 58, 59 doesn’t mean that there was not a championship game. If you want to just go by NFL, then we as a city have 5 championships. One behind Pigsburg.

However, just as there was an AFL which merged into the NFL there was a USFL, many of whose players were stars in the NFL such as Jim Kelly, Steve Young and Reggie White. We own 2 USFL championships. That makes 7 which is one more than you. I just threw in the Grey Cup for fun. But honestly speaking, the CFL has been around for decades. We only had a team for a year and guess what? We won the championship for that one.

I guess you could say that Pigsburgh has the history of the most NFL championships but Baltimore is the City of Football Champions. Yes, that puts the cherry on the top quite nicely.

  27. ravensnosncaps says: Feb 14, 2013 9:27 PM

I am a ravens fan but hate to tell all of you guys……none of you have anything to do with how many trophies your team has. Sounds really stupid using the term “our” or “my” team. That is directed at ravens fans too. Steeler fans lets see what happens before you start talking. The ravens and “their” fans are still enjoying a SB win. Yes the steelers have more Lombardi’s, they should look how long they have been around. Not impossible for the ravens to get 4 more in the next 50 years.

Thanks Sports Illustrated for some of the most irresponsible journalism of all time. You can NOT ingest IGF-1 orally. Therefore, deer antler spray does NOT give you an unfair advantage. Of course SI left this out of their story.

Also, SI’s only source WAS THE GUY WHO PROFITED FROM IT. The state of journalism today is depressing.

So now Ravens fans will be hearing “deer antler” for years to come even though no one benefited from it, nor COULD they if they tried.

  30. ravenator says: Feb 14, 2013 10:36 PM

I really mean it when I say you steeler fans are pathetic. I understand that you cant accept it that the Ravens won the superbowl but the jealousy and blatant envy is quite lame. You think anyone cares what a bunch of steeler fans say after they posted an 8-8 record, missed the playoffs and one year removed from being Tebowd? Youre a joke, youre franchise is a joke, your teams performances down the stretch were a joke. Nothing looks bright in your future. The toilet has been flushed and the steelers are in the cesspool. Cheers!

  31. riseabovecancer says: Feb 14, 2013 10:40 PM

Just give Terrell Suggs a bottle of Deer antler spray just like Ray Lewis used to get back in the game faster when Ray Lewis was supposed to be out for the rest of the season with a bicep tear.

  34. ibleedblackandgold1979 says: Feb 15, 2013 1:25 AM

If you really wanna compare the Steelers to the Ravens go ahead. Since the Ravens were the Cleveland browns before 1996, lets compare Super Bowl wins with that team. Baltimore fans love to act like their team was spawned into existence in. 1996. In reality they were a Browns team that changed their city and name. And let’s not forget, if Baltimore was such a great football city, why did your beloved Colts bail in the middle of the night with no notice? Still stings doesn’t it? So yes, let’s compare the Steelers Super Bowl record to the Browns/Ravens record. Still looks like 6-2 to me. And don’t bring up NFL championships, when there were only 13 teams in the whole league and the forward pass was “new”. I realize the league recognizes the Ravens as a “new” franchise started in 1996, but we all know who they really are. Don’t we?

And what happened to them in the 26 years leading up to that five year span? You must have really needed some help easing the pain after decades of mediocrity following the 70′s run… and that pain must just be starting to hurt again after getting tebowed two years ago then having to sit back and watch the ravens claim the lombardi this past season, let me know if you need a fresh bottle of advil…

sorry to have to put you straight. the colts were driven into the ground by an incompetent owner who had to sneak out of town just so he could move his team. and he kept all the colors history etc. almost to a man the old colts still align themselves with baltimore. the browns did come to baltimore but the city of cleveland kept the names history etc. the ravens did come from cleveland but our history is with the colts pre move.

That’s easy – they sucked. And they sucked before the 70′s too. Like many teams for long stretches during the pre free agency era.

Anything that happened before the current core group of players is irrelevant.
