If Panthers center Ryan Kalil wants to take out another newspaper ad this year, he’ll be paying for it out of the proceeds from a restructured contract.

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com reports that Kalil and the Panthers have agreed to reshape his deal ahead of the start of free agency. Kalil was set to make $4.75 million in 2013, but he converted four million of that toward a $5 million signing bonus. The move slashes Kalil’s cap figure from $8.6 million to $6.4 million and he remains under contract through the 2016 season.

The Panthers are now about $11 million over the cap. They need to get in compliance by the March 12 start of free agency, so there will be more restructures or releases coming out of Carolina in the next month.

Kalil went on injured reserve in October with a Lisfranc injury. He’s expected to be healthy enough to participate in the team’s offseason program.
