APThe Saints have around $20 million worth of salary cap room to create before the start of free agency.
They started creating it this week by restructuring the deal of linebacker Curtis Lofton, according to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com.
The Saints created $4 million worth of 2013 room by turning a $5 million roster bonus into a signing bonus which can be prorated for accounting purposes.
It pushes more of a hit into future years, but was likely the kind of paperwork flip that both sides knew was coming the day they signed the deal.

Lofton still hasn’t won a playoff game.
“I got some bad news today, honey.”.
“Oh, baby, what happened?”.
“I got restructured at work, I guess you going to have to go back to that night job…”.
Teams with franchise QBs will always have salary cap troubles.
Saints have no chance of competing, their only good when cheating.
Here’s a great idea – why do they not get rid of stinkin’ mark ingram for a higher draft pick from another SUCKER or trade for a real football player?
And the Falcants are still without a Lombardi. And the window has closed.

You know I was thinking the same thing about the Vikings with the difference being that they can’t win even if they tried cheating.
I’m starting a campaign to get Adrian Peterson out of Minnesota. It’s a tragedy that such an amazing talent has been wasted on such a failure of a franchise.
Man! When it come to Saints articles, commenters on ProFootballTalk are the absolute worst! All Lofton did was restructure his contract, and look what is being said! Anyway, we getting there as far as cap. Let’s keep it up Saints!!!
I think we’re about to sign Woodson with that money…
And the Vikings still are nothing more than a bridesmaid.

Spoken like the fan of a team that doesn’t have a franchise QB.
Also spoken like the fan of a team that’s been trounced by double digits in all four of their Super Bowls, and the last one being almost 40 years ago.

purple punisher……Saints must have kicked your team’s butt.
When are people going to realize that restructure is not less?
