You can’t have a dumb QB.

As you said he wasn’t “heard of” before the Alabama game. He performed similarly in EVERY game this past year, even the games they lost. Go back and watch the highlights for yourself. I think he ran a lot more this year than he will in the seasons to follow because he has a much improved receiver corps this year. But when he needs to run, I guarantee he will have no problem.

The only question that I have about Manziel is durability. He needs to get down and avoid the hits or he won’t last in the NFL. He better learn that in college before turning pro.

Russell Wilson has a quick release, and tries to get the ball out of his hands as quick as possible. Manziel on the other hand, holds onto the ball and tries to break the defense down with some 1950′s style scrambling. Manziel is great at scrambling, but he needs to develop in the timing passing game in order to become a serious threat in the NFL. Kaepernik, Wilson, and Griffin all improved in that area. Manziel needs to become more like them in order to become a top flight NFL prospect.

You have to be able to *throw*.

Kaepernick can throw, RG3 and Wilson can throw.

Notice how the talk about running QBs don’t seem to mention Tebow or Vince Young? It doesn’t work if you can’t pass the ball.

Right now, Manziel does not have that NFL level passing ability. He should be in no hurry to get to the NFL.
