If the person who was stabbed does not want to provide to the police what information is needed why should Britt get involved. By taking his friend to get medical help he did all that he should. Once you start talking to the police you can be innocent but still get implicated by the answers you give to their questions. Once you start talking you can even be held liable for the things that you did not mention. It is a slippery slope best stayed away from. Every lawyer worth his salt will advise his client to stay mute.

For all the conservatives, can you not agree with that principle? Stand my ground surely means I can also keep my money and not pay my attorney to take me to county to speak with you.

If he had a couple beers before driving his friend to the hospital that is enough of a reason to not speak to the police on record if you don’t have to. Everyone who hasn’t considered this is being naive.

Again, why not just cooperate if he’s innocent? Sure, maybe he shouldn’t have to prove his innocense but based on his past, why is it so absurd to think he wasn’t involved. If I were totally innocent I’d be more than happy to cooperate to clear my name.

He’d have absolutely nothing to lose. By not cooperating he’s practically giving them reason to believe he’s involved.
