Chiefs sign Husain Abdullah

Husain

Earlier this month, veteran safety Husain Abdullah worked out for the Chiefs. And the Chiefs apparently liked what they saw.

The team announced that Abdullah has agreed to terms.

Abdullah spent four seasons with the Vikings, after entering the league as an undrafted free agent. Last year, Abdullah and his brother, Hamza, walked away from football to make a pilgrimage to Mecca during the holy season of Ramadan.

“We’ve been playing football since we were 8 years old,” Husain Abdullah told Mary Carillo during a 2012 profile on Rock Center with Brian Williams, “from Pop Warner to high school, and to college, and into the NFL. And although we’re knocking down all these barriers, doing things that people said you can’t do, all of a sudden, it was like there’s more to life than this. There’s more. And we had to go for it.”

Husain is now going for it by returning to the NFL. Welcome back.
