Mike Adams sees himself becoming an All-Pro tackle

Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams had an up-and-down rookie season in 2012, but he thinks he’s going to have more ups than downs going forward.

Adams told the team’s website that he believes he can become one of the NFL’s elite linemen.

That is always a goal, All Pro and Pro Bowl,” said Adams. “That should be a goal for every player. Everybody should want to be great at what they do. We should all strive to be the best.”

Adams said that the ankle injury that derailed his rookie season was tougher on him mentally than it was physically, but he expects to come back better.

“It was pretty rough,” said Adams. “For me it was pretty devastating mentally. You watch your team practice every day and you want to be out there but you can’t. You kind of feel isolated, especially after a couple of weeks. You are just watching the days go by wondering when you are going to feel better. You just have to keep your mind right and keep pushing to get that thing right. There isn’t much you can do about it but try and get back. It makes you stronger.”

The Steelers, who are undergoing a youth movement on the offensive line, are counting on Adams to get a lot stronger.

  1. That is not what he said. He said that going to the probowl is his goal which should be every players goal. He never says that he sees himself being an all pro.

  2. and I see myself becoming president of the united states. Hahah, like most Pittsburgh fans, this guy is a joke.

  3. Bit of a misleading title, but I thought he played pretty well last season. Sure he needs to improve, as does every rookie in the NFL. Will he be All-Pro, who knows? But I do think he’s on the path of becoming a very good tackle for the Steelers.

  4. The real joke is ravenator making a stupid comment about a player with the right approach to his profession, which isn’t making inane comments on a message board… I bet mom is proud of your position on the threads posting pro..

  5. “That is always a goal, All Pro and Pro Bowl,” said Adams. “That should be a goal for every player. Everybody should want to be great at what they do. We should all strive to be the best.”

Sounds to me like he is wanting to be the best he can be, not saying he is.

Keep hating Ravenator. As you get ready to watch your team go from Super Bowl Champions to basement dwellers, I can’t wait to see you disappear next year.

By the way, what do you think is going to happen when you lose Ellerby, Jones, Reed, Ray Lewis and Kruger because you have to use the Franchise tag on Flacco, then he leaves to join the Browns or Chiefs because you don’t have the money to match their offer?

  6. The Steelers’ o-line will never be perceived as adequate as long as it’s blocking for an unconventional, playground quarterback.
Not knowing the QB’s whereabouts causes freak injuries and missed assignments. Pouncey should consider himself fortunate for having established himself as the Steelers’ token All-Pro lineman.

  7. I love reading comments from idiots. Some are just hysterical I especially love the one where ” isn’t this they guy who smoked himself into the second round” lol dude get a life. Or calling steelers fans jokes as if ravens fans aren’t jokes. Absolute morons writing moronic comments I guess when you work as a part time Taco Bell cook you got all the time in the world to come up with moronic stuff

  8. The sad part is the fact that you all respond to ravenator, often within minutes (looking at you, drool), yet you complain that he’s all over your articles. Stop answering him.

  9. @ravenator….you are the biggest waste of oxygen ever…pleqse quit opening your mouth it just makes you sound stupider and stupider……yea your team finally did something but they are definatly not the Steelers, Patriots,49ers, Packers or Cowboys storied franchises…there but a afterthought kinda like you…a lil beoutch that constantly runs his mouth if they win a crawls under a rock when they lose….know your role and lay by your dish!!!

  10. I watched games with him on the right side. He was getting destroyed by both speed and power moves by average pass rushers. He will get better but that claim is pretty far out there from what he’s shown.

What? Are you the posting police? Ravenator gets what he deserves and let me have fun playing with his little brain…try it ..great for relieving stress….lol

Every team you named has won multiple championships , but have been around for >40 years.
Diminishing what the Ravens have done in less than half that time weakens your argument. The current world champion by default is not an afterthought, at least not until the new season starts.

  13. I dont really see the issue with what ravenator said, its true he did smoke himself into the second round. He was a first round talent that fell because he smoked. what did he say that was so wrong?

    It’s actually they’re.

  15. He has an awful lot of work ahead of him. He was a huge disappointment for us last season. @ravenator, we’ve swept you bums 3 times in one season, enroute to our 6th Lombardi. U idiots have 4 more Lombardi’s to go beefore u can run ur mouths.

  16. Gotta walk before you run. I’d think he’s not making all pro until joe Thomas retires and I am a ravens fan. The media has been drooling over Thomas since he went duck hunting on draft day. I think the guy is very good, but he is not close to being a Willie Roaf , lt alone a Jon Ogden. Anyone see the common elements? Don’t say it too loud.

And you have to read history before you make it up grandpa!

  18. Just what do you mean foo that drools. I compared joe Thomas who I think is way overrated because of racial issue to Ogden and Roaf. Wash your glasses before you read and stop looking sor steeler slurs when there are none. No wonder you becoming universally disliked

  19. Good! We need players that believe in themselves but the next part is putting in the work. I hope for the Steelers sake, his is the best tackle that ever played the game…
