Like it or not (I’m a big Griffin fan, but I’ll still go with not) this is going to be the story of the offseason.

Every offseason has one big storyline that is followed by the media until every football fan is nauseous. Whether that’s Priest Holmes’ neck, the McDaniels/Cutler mess, bounties, Manning’s new team, Brees’ contract or now Griffin’s knee, we, as football fans, are going to have to suck it up and get ready to hear about nothing but Griffin’s health until next September.

WOW, there’s a lot of negative things being said about my boy on here. you Know RGIII. the kid is only 22 years old he is going to make 22 year old blunders from time to time. let’s just hope none are as bad as the ones I made at that age. ATTACKING the kid for a commercial. REALLY? in his heart you know in his heart he is hoping to be ready for week 1, and if anyone besides AP can do it surely a kid in his physical shape with the discipline he’s learned from his parents can. he’s already had a bad knee yet was still one of the fastest players in the league not to mention a world class hurdler. so haters keep hating while RGII keeps changing the game

I have a better chance of being healthy week 16 and starting for the Redskins than RG3. It’s a shame all the hype last year forced him to play thru an injury, and the pressure is already building for him to play week 1 of 2013. Shanahan can’t start 0-1, and yes I am assuming Cousins would lose.

As a DC resident, but not a Skins fan, I wish he could have gone to the Rams or Browns who would have been patient and built a team around him. Regardless of the talent he displayed while on the field, and the wins the team garnered, his career is going to be cut short by an overly zealous head coach and an owner who thinks simply drafting RG3 already saved the franchise.

I really do not understand the sentiment here attacking Mike Shanahan in this matter, when it is clear to me that RG3′s continuing to play in the playoff game against the Seahawks was the result of Griffin pressing Shanahan to let him continue (fear of Kirk Cousins succeeding?), than it was Shanahan forcing him to play against his will. If anything, I blame Shanahan for letting Griffin talk him into letting him continue against what should have been Shanahan’s better judgment.

That said, I am glad to hear Griff finally stand down and say this. I would much rather he take his time recovering completely, than rush back and risk irreversible injury.

First, I like the guy, but the more he’s around I think he may be the prototypical next generation athlete.

1. Only had one good year in college
2. Was marketed by second rate school for heisman that boosted his reputation as the greatest ever. this with all the combine drama and now commercials make him the “IT” guy.
3. Season starts and all the talk is about potential but he immediately starts fast and everyone believes all the hype and makes him the BEST QB in the league/ever by week 3.
4. Time catches up with the guy, pressure and injuries start to mount and the bloom is off the rose.
5. Media drama follows him for next 2 years as he trys to come back but never ends up amounting to what we thought he would be after week 3 of his first NFL season.
6. He hangs around for a while and fades off into sunset while the other underated guys continue to shine.

Thumbs down if you think there’s less than 45% chance someone else isn’t under center in DC come 2015.

Running quarterbacks are exciting, but they are also career killers. RGIII, Cam Newton, Colin Kapernic, and of course Micheal Vick, three years max on their careers at playing an entire season. Oh well, works for me.

What Adrian Peterson did was unreal and great for him, but will have unintended consequences for many athletes in the near future. RG3 will think he can do the same thing, and will lie to whoever he has to in order to come back and have a great year. He should sit out 2013, but he never will. I am hoping that this tweet is his first move in the direction of a more realistic and cautious approach to recovery.
