Name me another oline that managed to be great when both starting offensive tackles go on IR and are replaced with Newhouse (backup guard) and Barclay (backup guard) … The guy has been coaching up late round/or undrafted players to play pretty decent in the NFL, our oline was actually 13th in pass blocking efficiency last year (football focus) – give the guy his starting oline guys to work with and tell Rodgers to learn to throw it away if nothings there and you’ll see the sack numbers go down.

If Bishop and Bulaga come back OK and the Packers find one big hitter at LB and another at S, all of a sudden the Packers will be plenty “tough enough.”
And Mini will yet again be saying “Wait ’til next year.”

Hate the lamers whining about being “tougher”.

The game is basically:

- Don’t turn the ball over
- Make the other team turn the ball over
- Don’t give up big plays
- Don’t make mental mistakes

“Tougher” is what the talking heads come up when a team with a conservative or non-high power offense wins a game.

Example, everyone remembers Brandon Jacobs trucking over Charles Woodson. However, everyone forgets that play was only for a marginal gain, and the Giants really didn’t run the ball well in that game.

Additionally everyone forgets about how the “tough” Ravens used to be the “undisciplined” Ravens when the officials decide to call the game tight.

Rodgers career will look very similar to #4′s when this is all done.

The Packers simply DO not want to spend on free agents. My case:

in the 90′s the Pack went and got Reggie – 2 trips to the big game

in the 2000′s, Woodson came to town – 1 trip to the dance

Both these players made an impact, both put them over the top. the formula to WIN in the NFL is draft well and SUPPLEMENT your roster with a DIFFERENCE MAKER in Free Agency.

Thompson has not been active in Free Agency in 4 years and now is depleted of impact players!

Look for the Packers to pickup a WR in the early rounds of the draft. They seem to have a knack of being successful with those kinds of picks, i.e., Cobb and Nelson.

This does not address the biggest problem. This team needs to get tougher and more physical. I hope that is the primary focus of offseason.

I give Jones a ton of credit for working hard and staying focused over his career, and I hope to see him continue to improve and produce and stay with GB for a long time.

However, when contract time comes around, he would do well to remember the guy throwing him the ball when making his list of demands. He wouldn’t be the first Packer WR in the past 20 years to forget to do so, but he would do well to remember it.

I think Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson can have a 1,000 yards next season but for some reason I only see James Jones in the 800 yd area unless Jordy’s hurt again.
