Seattle has had some of the best drafts the past 3 years without question. Carptenter and Moffit stay healthy I will give them even more credit. Biggest waste of a pick Kris Durham but they drafted McCoy in 6th allowing us to let Carlson walk he may break out.

It wasn’t just picking well, it was also the dealing around that made their draft so successful.

In other words, they’re not just evaluating the new kids, they’re also evaluating what their competition is going to do, and they evaluated both sides very well.

There is a novel idea. Draft guys who can play rather than falling in love with physical metrics. Some of the GMs in the NFL are too influenced by media. Good for the Seahawks that they have a GM and coach that is not afraid of the media criticism.

It’s about being able to make the transition from cool player to the NFL. And that takes passion and desire. The common thread in all the Seahawks playmakers, from Lynch to Wilson and the rest, is an unquenchable desire to work hard and play top tier football. Being able to produce on the college field is not worth much if you don’t also have the desire to be the best regardless of what people say.

It’s always production. Can the player produce? Height and weight are only potential indicators. The actual record from college is much more valuable. I’m glad the Seahawks have been able to get past conventional wisdom and get to the heart of the matter. It reminds me of the leading-edge wisdom of the Cowboys in the 1960s.
