Class act and a tough player but he isn’t the answer at quarterback. Never was. Never will be. The Bills have had a revolving door qb policy since Kelly retired and it has to stop. they need to try to package their first round draft pick and make a splash somehow. Fans are anxious for a winner and management has been ok with mediocrity since the Music City Miracle. Enough is enough. Bills fans are fed up.

If they decide to keep Fitzpatrick, It will be for insurance as a back-up, not a starter. Taking a $10 million cap hit is no good though. They need to ask him to restructure and If he refuses, then cut him. My guess is that he will not want to leave Buffalo, because after the Bills let him go, who knows if he’ll be signed anywhere else in the league. He hasn’t had the best track record as a starter. There are days that he can look sharp as a tack, and others where he looks flustered and weak under pressure. In order to win with Fitzpatrick, the o-line has to be perfect, his Receivers elite and the Defense has to hold the opponent to a low score. He is a pure Back-up.

Hes one of the least physically gifted QB’s in the league. But he is smart and can read defenses and make changes at the line. I think Buffalo has very little to offer in terms of WR and TE. Plus the play calling the past two years has been awful. Give him one more shot this year with some additional weapons on offense and I bet he becomes this years Alex Smith.

Of course , Brandon isn’t going to have any comment. He is the one who signed off on that deal, and he is supposedly the teams “capologist”. And most Fitzpatrick supporters are fond of saying that he is a “serviceable” QB. Yeah, he “serviced” the Bills to a 6-10 season. But you know what? You cant blame the guy for signing that contract. If they offered it to him, why wouldn’t he accept it?

When will people get that his contract really isn’t that bad. He is an average QB making average NFL QB money.

Buffalo wants a better than average QB. That isn’t Fitz. Cut him, eat the cap hit for 2013, and move on. That should be done because they want to upgrade the position, not because “OMG!! He signed the worst contract ever!! Buffalo is so dumb!!”

Silly Season is upon us. There’s almost no point in analyzing Fitz’s contract situation. It’s obviously a bad contract but virtually nothing can be done with it unless he wants to do the team a solid & restructure. Cutting him only saves $450K – replacing him on the roster would erase that savings & more making it impossible to address other needs. Starter or not, restructure or not, he’s a Bill for at least 1 more year. The only way he gets released is if he turns into a bad teammate. Pointless article in all reality, but what else can a football writer do this time of year?

For awhile (read: 6 games) he was looking great, but I think it’s safe to say that he’s just a decent backup QB at this point.

Normally I’d just throw some comment out there about how it’s obvious this guy should be replaced or at least forced to compete for the job but we’re talking about the organization that gave him a huge contract in the first place. They’ll probably pay him another year to be completely mediocre on his best day.

The Bills made this bed and rather then lie in it another night it’s time to throw it out.

Probably isn’t worth the money. But Buffalo fans, don’t get your hopes up and think Nassib will do any better (yes I do think Nassib is going to Buffalo). He’ll likely be the same as Fitz but for much less cash.

He is a below average quarterback. Why would you want to keep him? If the NFL was all very short ten yard passes, he is your man.
