Getty ImagesThe Jets are doing their honest best to try to dampen the Darrelle Revis trade talk.
But coach Rex Ryan, while tiptoeing through a minefield of hypothetical and semantic questions at the NFL Scouting Combine, said there was a possibility he’d move the cornerback.
“I mean, if you got Jim Brown in that trade, you’d look into it,” Ryan said as reporters tried to pin him down on the specific denials.
That would be worse than the Tim Tebow trade, since Jim Brown just turned 77 this week.
General manager John Idzik played both sides of the fence admirably, saying “We’ve always wanted Darrelle to be part of our team, and that hasn’t changed,” followed with a “Right now, Darrelle Revis is a New York Jet.”
Mending fences with Revis will take some time, after saying earlier this week “I need answers,” in regards to reports ownership wanted to move him, but Idzik and Ryan are doing their best to make sure he knows he’s valued.

Can we just send the Jets to the Canadian league already?
Jim brown at 77 would be more Productive then Shonn Green any day of the Week
He’s probably better than what you got now, even though he’s bout 75.
Jim has lost a few steps. Probably only average about 5 yards per carry at this point in his career.
Correction: Rex meant to say Jim Beam.
Jim Brown would fit in perfectly with the Jets front office.
If the Jets were smart they’d bring back Jim and Carl Eller, just to sit on the bench and glare at the other team. That’s worth about 15 points a game right there.
He’s implying that he’d take the like of: Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, Gore, or Foster for one Revis. I’m pretty sure those teams would fold on that bet. Except maybe Ten.
Not a surprising response from Rex. Jim Brown had (and still has) some of the best feet in the business…….
^ Browns fan
Jim Brown is a curmudgeon woman-beater.
Have all avenues to move Revis been exhausted? What about the Bills?
Sherm the worm is figuring out a way to spin this in his direction
How bout Toby Gerhart? Hes like a rich mans Shonn Greene.
They should have made him play out his first contract. Has caving in to a holdout ever worked for the team????
Revis for Alex Smith, what the hell they traded for Tebow and he isn’t even a QB
I love all the Jets haters. You’ll see, just like those Steelers seen w/Balt…
The Jets front office is weak. They’ll fold again to Revis.
No one is trading for Chris Johnson — and NO ONE would give up revis 4 CJ. You’re lost dude. Just goes to show you what these fools in this comments know about pigskin
Remember the Bailey – Portis trade ?
I guess Rexy doesnt realize Jim Brown is a Free Agent
The Jets will probably end up trading Revis for a third, a fourth and a bag of Doritos(tm) because we all know Woody dont wanna sign no big checks.
Woody Johnson… damn what a funny name lol
I liked Revis better when he was “speechless”.
Revis trade would have to be around 2 first rounders for the jets to do it but even then you’d need to evaluate his knee and to make trading him for value even harder is the fact he wants 15-20 million a year. all these factors are gonna make it impossible to trade him, this is the bed you’ve made Woody.
I am sure money will mend any fences.
How bout Toby Gerhart? Hes like a rich mans Shonn Greene.
——————–
Why is he a rich man’s shonn green? Cuz hes white? Warren Moon smells racism.
If anyone talks more than Rex Ryan this time of year nobody will hear it, because Rex Ryan is doing all the talking.
the Jets aren’t going to be breaking the bank (or the cap) for a corner as the Jets are going to be spending the next three years rebuilding the team.
they don’t have a QB or a running back and the offense managed 10 points or less in 7 games last year
Oh look, Rex is trying to be a comedian.
Don’t quit your day job.
As a matter of fact that was pretty darn funny
Revis! Your feelings get hurt?? Awww:-(
Check your bank account. Have a contract? SHUT UP and play!
