When Goodell suspends players for no good reason, people are quick to claim “that’s what the players agreed to”.

Today the shoe is on the other foot. The union can reject any calendar changes. That’s what the owners agreed to.

I don't have a problem with their rejecting the calendar changes but De Smith would argue that water isn't wet. He needs to pick his battles insted of fighting everything that isn't generated from his side.

I don’t get it, why don’t the owners just agree to not sign anyone to a contract until April 1st, and fine the owners that don’t comply. It’s got nothing to do with players if the owners don’t want to sign them.

=================================

Because that's collusion by the owners. The NFLPA would sue (and rightfully so).

I have an idea. Lets expand the league to 64 teams, 106 on each roster, 30 games and no preseason. Then we would have hocky. Nobody would agree to this, but hey Los angeles could have 6 teams.
Millionares bickering with Billionares. This is what the NFL has become,YAWN

Pro days are pointless. The measurements are highly inaccurate and skewed to make the prospects look better than they actually are. Team officials have to hip hop around the country to spend half an hour watching some guy only do the things he does well and skip the things he doesn't do well.

NFL teams should just ignore them completely and if the prospects are afraid to test against other prospects in fair, equal, controlled conditions, that is their problem not the problem of the people who may or may not wish to give them vast amounts of money.

I wish they would drop the union crap and change to a normal owner -> employee working relationship.

There are just as many articles of actual football as there are about the players are unhappy about something.
It would be interesting to see how much it costs both sides to engage in this eternal bickering.

Just so I am clear.

New CBA ties cap and player payments to a % of league revenue.

League wants to move draft, combine, and FA to dominate even more of the headlines and increase revenue.

NFLPA is against it.

Yup, that makes perfect sense.

Pushing back the Combine back could prove hecktick for most inspiring draftees.
The problem I have with pushing the Combine back is that so many schools host Pro Day's in March it would be counter productive to have the Combine and Pro Days so close. As it is now, the Combine in late Feb and Pro Day's starting in mid March - early April, if the combine was late March I dont think alot of draftees would want to participate if they already had a pro day. So many player choose to skip
