Goodwin’s stats also suffered because of poor QB play at Texas. Garrett Gilbert left to go to SMU ( and wasn’t much better there), and Ash and McCoy are not good enough to start on some Sun Belt teams…

It’s because Goodwin went to UT, where Mack Brown brings in elite recruits based on their junior year in high school, only to not maximize their potential. A lot of these guys blossom in the NFL. When Muschamp was there guys were peaking (Orakpo, Kindle). Since he left, back to the same.

There will be some speed-infatuated coach/GM/owner that will take Goodwin in the second round. Let them be the ones to find out if he’s a real player (once given an actual QB) or not; I’d rather take a chance on the guy who has had a real QB and who has gotten it done.

It’s a fair debate but you also have to look at who was QB at Texas for Goodwin’s SO thru SR seasons. Gilbert, Ash/McCoy, and Ash. That handicapped his production more that his skill set.
