Browns bringing in Breaston for a visit

The Steelers are interested in free agent receiver Steve Breaston, but they aren’t the only AFC North team with interest.

Breaston will visit the Browns this week, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Other teams reportedly interested in Breaston’s services include the Lions, Cowboys and Titans. Breaston, who was cut by the Chiefs last week, can sign at any time, which means a team that’s eager to shore up its wide receiving corps may try to move quickly and sign Breaston now, before the free agent floodgates open on March 12.

The 29-year-old Breaston has shown promise at times in his career with the Cardinals and the Chiefs, going over 1,000 yards in 2008 and over 700 yards in three other seasons. But last year he was largely phased out of the Chiefs’ offense and had just seven catches for 74 yards.

This wldnt be a bad signing i wldnt spend alot of money on the offensive side this yr i wld spent big money on D in FA an draft the best wideout or the guard from Alabama.

Steelers cant afford anyone. Third place is the new norm in Pittsburgh. Simply pathetic.

Breaston’s good, don’t get me wrong, but we have enough #2 WRs already. I don’t think he’s really the answer.

I mean I won’t be upset if we sign him or anything, but I hope we don’t overpay. Not that he’s not a solid WR, but he kinda built his career on being the #3 behind Fitz and Anquan, and what we need is a Fitz or an Anquan to get this offense in gear. We haven’t had a guy like that since Braylon was at the top of his game in ’07.

Wouldn’t give this guy a 2nd thought. The Browns need a “quality” veteran receiver. Like quarterback, they’ve needed a receiver for the entirety of the Holmgren/Heckert era.
The new regime has to solve the bigger issues that Holmgren and Heckert failed at.

If you’re going to spend money on a free agent receiver, Mr. Banner, I would prefer you go get Mike Wallace.

Slap those Steelers up-side their head…

Nobody wants to play for the browns. Thats where good players go to die

He’s a good #2 IF you have a great #1(Fitz). If your #1 is really a #2(Bowe), then Breaston is barely above average.

Why would anyone sign with a team that has had those MSR problems that I read about? If you had a choice, why not pick 31 other destinations where you feel safer?

Wait…he was phased out of the Chiefs offense? The Chiefs HAD an offense? WHO KNEW?!!!

This is why the browns will never be good! They continue to pick up and draft these crappy players. Its like they don’t realize they’re supposed to get good players not just whoever is available at the moment. Especially at a position where they’re actually not terrible at right now

So bengalsstill is a Browns fan. Your screen name is a compliment. It shows you are angry. We love it.

Breaston can contribute in the right offense. Consider what the Browns have (and the Steelers without Wallace). Breaston can be an asset if used right.

    I really hope they’re kidding.

The Ravens will not win 8 games this year without Ray, Crackhoe had a lucky period. Pay him…… he will blead your team dry.
