The defensive makeover in Philadelphia has begun, as the team announced today they had released defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins.

Jenkins was part of the “Dream Team” offseason of 2011, signing a five-year, $30 million contract. But like most things that offseason, he didn’t quite work out.

They’re looking to get younger and faster on defense, and a 32-year-old with a $1 million roster bonus due in March was a bad fit, even though he has experience in a 3-4 defense.
