I am surprised that Flynn is not more sought after than Smith. It took Smith playing on a Superbowl team to look “OK” – and not good enough to keep his starting job.

I believe there to be more an upside to Flynn, as the few times he has played, Flynn has been spectacular. Flynn couldn’t win the starting position against Wilson, but really – who could?

Trading for him makes sense if you feel you could miss out on him on the open market.. That’s why. Especially if you are one of a couple of coaches like Reid for example who is expected to produce immediate improvement. Not gradual improvement

I don’t understand someone trading for him right now…Is he a good player? Yeah, he’s a solid QB, but not a franchise changer and if I were a GM and I wanted him, I’d wait for the 49ers to blink and cut him because you know they don’t want to pay him $8.5 million to sit on the bench…Why give up draft picks when you have a legitimate shot of just signing him

Smith’s been classy throughout his whole ordeal, I hope he lands on a good team. I just hope he doesn’t land on a bottom feeding team because when he fails (just like anyone else would with no support) all the haters are just going to pile on him for being a system QB (which is BS).

Alex can trow the ball deep just ask Vernon davis over the last 4 season… Just go look at that saints game, or against the giants where 2 of his deep balls accounted for all of san frans offense while having 2 special team wr starting for him in the championship game, kyle Williams, brett swain…. Darin quit using talking points and actually watch the niners … Alex can get the ball Downfield….

I wish Alex the best if he is leaving. He was a very good teammate. I’m sure he agreed to go where they are sending him. I can’t imagine him vetoing a trade to a team where he can start. Kaep showed things on the field last year that Alex never could. Whichever team gets Smith will not be disappointed. He is not a pro-bowler but he will also not be the reason for many loses and the locker room will love him.

The browns throwing more? See this is why teams lime them don’t improve, its not about chucking down the field. The browns don’t have the WR core to throw more, they’re more of a balance and Richardson showers he can carry the load. Look how they faired last season in passing, a lot of picks, smith would be an upgrade to what they have now. Peyton manning proved that you don’t have to throw the deep balls to rack up the stats, its all about accuracy.

I just got a text from my Brother(who has friends with close ties to Buffalo’s FO) that says the Bills were the team making a deal with SF for Smith. We won’t know for sure until teams are able to wheel n’ deal. Few more days…
