Fellow Jets fans, you’re being very foolish if you think the Jets don’t desperately need Holmes for this coming season – unless you just want the Jets to tank it on purpose. I’d never want to see that. I don’t think we’ll be good (6-7 wins tops), but I want them to at least make an effort to be competitive next year.

I believe if the Jets won 6 last year within that tumultuous environ, they can win 8 games this year.
Rex learned to shut up, no Sparano, improvement of (hopefully) Coples, add: Revis (or something good for him), Holmes, and the recipe sounds two games better.

Sorry, but this is just additional nonsense from PFT Jet haters who immediately run to their keyboards to comment about the Jets “circus” and how every other team is better. Others have already shown the inaccuracy of Steelbydesign’s comments, and you too are trying to create something that does not exist, instead of looking at the most obvious reason staring you in the face. You try to blame his drop in performance on fewer leaders. His performance dropped because he went from the 4th or 5th best QB in the league to the absolute worst. PERIOD. As for his “team” problems, he had none last year. He had them two years ago because he and everyone else on offense was frustrated with Sanchez’s inability to get a ball anywhere near their hands, let alone where they can run with the ball and create some YAC. Adding to that, he was coming off of a mega contract paying him like one of the top 5 WR’s in the league, and Rex then compounded the problem by making him an offensive captain, even though he was a spoiled guy who is not a natural leader, had never showed leadership before, and was already playing with two strikes against him. So naturally, he suddenly felt entitled to comment about everyone else’s failure w/o thinking that you first have to set an example yourself. Once REX realized his mistakes, there were no “team” problems on the JETS last year, despite the fact that they had an even worse record, which always leads to griping. Did you see how two years w/o playoffs suddenly had Big Ben griping about his OC and other players griping about each other?

Santonio was never a leader with the Steelers. But other leaders on the team, like Ward, were able to keep him in check so that he was productive on the field. Without that stabilizing locker-room influence, he’s been far less productive … certainly less productive than the hit he’ll be making on the Jets’ salary cap. He may want out, but it’s hard to see what other team would want to take him on. Bruce Arians might be able to get something out of him, but he’s got Larry Fitzgerald.

Exactly none of that is accurate. While in Pittsburgh he had domestic problems and drug problems. He was shipped out because his actions had him on the verge of a league suspension.

correction ..his BS with the Steelers including a 4 games suspension (served as a Jet) for weed was the last straw for the Rooneys. They do not tolerate players with problems and thus sent packing for a 4th rounder I believe…he was damaged good prior and the Jets thought that they could get him on track.

Having said that, its interesting to hear the stories coming out of Pittsburgh this week about the lack of leadership when they had a subpar year last year.
