I understand why he might be cut. He was an a decent receiver for yards, though not for YAC and he did lie down alot. Also, if this locker room stuff turns out to be true, then obviously he'll be gone.

I'm a little dissapointed, though, he has insane body control. Almost every game he was making a sweet catch twisting his body in unnatural directions and flipping his hands out so fast that the ball just disappeared into his chest sometimes. Too bad he almost always fell down and laid there till the whistle after the catch.

If he could have just worked a little harder at moving forward after the catch, as well as worked at getting downfield more, I think they would have kept him. He's just not the fast-paced, downfield receiver we need to open up the middle for our star talent. Ridiculous hands, though.

I got no problem seeing Lloyd go. He was not a difference maker this year. I want the Mighty Patriots to draft a WR over 6'2'' who can play the outside receiver position. The Patriots offense is one of the best in the league and has been for years with a revolving cast of WRs. I would love to see them finally draft and develop a WR.

Not surprised to read this. Lloyd had character issues going back to his days in San Francisco after being drafted there in 2003.

I remember him getting into locker room scraps with team leaders like Bryant Young and Fred Beasley. He and Kevan Barlow were both jackasses.

These types of articles are getting old. Why not just write one sentence without your opinion. There are no facts, no sources,no examples of bad behavior, just nothing but a statement and assumptions.

Dude, if you want unbiased reporting of clear facts coming from named sources, you might want to think about looking somewhere besides a place that calls itself "The Rumor Mill." Unnamed sources and unverified claims are the whole point.

You might as well complain that the porno you're watching has bad acting and a shoddy script.

Lloyd was a 0 YAC receiver. He fell down after everything he caught. I was always amazed when he didn't (I watched every game, every play), but he also made some incredible catches. He always felt like he was about to break out and be a stud.

I don't really know much about Lloyd and given how much he is owed, I figured he would be back (they got a steal when he signed for what he did), but I guess he isn't working out.

I wish him luck with his next team.

The biggest problem with Lloyd was Brady has pretty much no downfield arm anymore.

No, the problem with Lloyd was Brady throwing more deep balls to Edelman, Vereen, Stallworth, and Daniel Fells than Lloyd.

When I saw that bomb go to Fells, I knew the Lloyd "deep threat" wasn't working quite as planned.

As someone who lives in Boston and reads both paper’s sports section, the two radio station websites and other Boston-centric sports sites, why have I never heard of a Brandon Lloyd issue before now?

Hockeyflow - no media leaks mid season as to not cause any clubhouse issues. Now they can just can the guy and it doesn't matter.

The Patriots aren't the Red Sox. Go read Shaugnessy or Borges if you want to read crap. Berdard is a pro.

The only shock in this for me is that it took this long, I had predicted he'd be released by Christmas.

From his time spent in Denver (aside from the one year he didn't dress when he was actually quiet) he was just way too happy about putting up his numbers in games they were losing. They were getting crushed and he was busy doing his ridiculous "you can't see me" hand motion after every single catch.

As an outsider I would say the Pats don't need a big name WR, they just need a guy fast enough to get deep quickly where they can hit him every now and then to keep the defense honest. The Pats offense is based on quick screens and 5 yard outs or slants to Welker and the mid range passes to Gronkowski and Hernandez, then you throw in the slower developing screens and check downs to the running backs. This isn't a knock on the Patriots they do what they do well.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. As others have said his next team will be his 7th. If you are a good WR you shouldn't be on that many teams. When he came here in DC the Redskins tore up his existing contract and gave him a new one and that was a mistake. His off the field issues just didn't appear this past season, they have been there.

The Patriots will end up grabbing one of the talented Receivers out of the first round in this years draft. There are several #1 Wideouts for 2013 and most of them look to have very promising futures. Its a good year for Receivers and O-Line help. Nobody will even notice that Lloyd is gone, especially Brady.

The biggest problem with Lloyd was Brady has pretty much no downfield arm anymore. Heck even Timmy T could get the ball downfield to Lloyd better than Brady that great could. Not sure when he lost it but Brady has no deep ball.

Good on Billy B for noticing early and surrounding him with countless underneath receivers.

The Texans would disagree with you

Brady throws 75% of his passes within 5 yds of the line of scrimmage hence Welker catching 120 balls a year. Only time he’s been good at throwin the deep ball was when he had a motivated Moss that can literally outrun and out jump everyone. Lloyd cant do either of thise so I guess that could make him expendable.
--
So he's the only QB to throw for over 5000 yards by throwing "75%" of is passes "5 yards" from the line of scrimmage?

I bet your numbers are way off.

Kind of odd. Patriots letting go a guy who put up 1000 yards to save $3 mil. Lloyd seems like the type of vet they covet. He must be really annoying in the locker room.

I'm guessing he doesn't laugh Bill's jokes or something.

According to the Globe article a teammate and Lloyd were having a conversation when mid sentence Lloyd said I don't want to talk to you anymore then put his headphones on, and he was very eratic with his behaviour some days he'd be fun loving others no one could talk to him, don't think this really effects the offseason plans though Pats need a WR to get downfield that's not Lloyd

Don't bother jibzek, jagsfan is just another blind hater that never brings any facts to the table. He's about as knowledgable as his teams front office. The Pats two 'big ticket ' free agent signings this year were Lloyd(2 mil this year) and Gregory(1.5 mil). The other 19-20 starters were drafted, undrafted free agents or guys off the scrap heap(Ninkovich). Kills guys like this that the Pats contend for the SB EVERY year with that dumb approach, their 'system' QB and one of the best rosters in the league.
