Remember in Wrath of Khan, where Spock tells Kirk his best destiny is commanding a starship? Somebody needs to have that conversation with Holmgren. He’s a coach. He’s never been great at anything other than being a coach. He should return to where his talents truly lie.

Sounds to me like Holmgren was trolling around for a job so he could stay connected to football. He probably isn’t asking for much money, he just wants a football job. The Raiders could probably add him to the payroll for not a lot of money and he serves as another set of eyes. Makes sense and I don’t see much downside.

Lookout, the Big Show could be returning to the Bay Area. If he comes to you Oakland, just remember you’ll be on a never ending “5 Year Plan”. Also, become accustomed to the term, “it’s a process”. Whatever you do, don’t question him or you will hear this one, “don’t come to me asking for playoff tickets.” Mike, you were an outstanding coach, but as a front office man, you were terrible in Seattle, and in Cleveland. Do the NFL and yourself a favor. Stay on your deck in Arizona enjoying retirement.

I wouldnt mind the move..he knows football, I always thought the browns were a good qb away from bein competitive..he took the Seahawks to the superbowl aswell..I don’t think it would hurt to have him around. Prty smart guy if u ask me.

It kinda looks like Davis is figuring out that Reggie may have been a top-notch underling, but maybe not so hot at running the whole show.
Everyone that’s good at their job isn’t going to be good in a higher position.
I think he needs help. Holmgren wouldn’t be bad.

well I am trying to figure out what the negatives are, and can’t really think of any……so probably a good thing, he could probably only help.There are a lot of people who like the Phil Jacksons, Pat Rileys, Bill Bilichick…type of coaches who can win with great players, but I give the Larry Browns, and the Bill Parcells more credit…that can create winners, by turning things around.
Holmgren falls in more with the latter group because he did it with the Packers, and seahawks, and I do believe the Browns have a good young team right now, and he got canned to soon.

So you’re saying Belichick didn’t win because of Cowher? He went 4-12 in Cleveland because Coughlin was coaching Jax? That doesn’t make much sense. But I digress. The point of my statement was that nobody wins in Cleveland. If that franchise was a benchmark there would be a lot of good coaches that never coach again…

Much rather have Homgren than that clown Lombardi Browns fans. Besides Holmgren did a good job at Cleveland. You all will see in the near future what kind of job he’s done there.

I’m all for Holmgren just as long as he does his job from The Bay instead of Seattle.1st Holmgren, next Gruden, then a whole lotta hell to pay for the rest of the NFL for all the trash you all been talking about the Raider Nation. There’s hell to pay and on the field we’re about to start collecting debts.

Being a life long Browns fan, I hope the walrus gets that job. Look at what H & H did in Cleveland, all the talent they have now. Only 2 mistakes they made were they wasted the 22nd overall pick in last years draft and got a schmuck for a HC.
