As to the post that’s says why the vets keep doing this with the high chance of injury. When a player restructures his contract the money restructured becomes a guarantee so even if injured or cut money is theirs. If this were not the case no one would ever restructure.

Do you not expect the cap not to increase in coming years? If it is not, then obviously the NFL is a horrible business. Any 101 level Risk Management class will show the Cap increasing, even if it is only level loaded with entry.

johntonio…right now i would rather play an up and coming improving joe then a qb like ben. no doubt he has had a great career but he has taken lots of hits and may be slowing down. hopefully ben can return to form so the best rivalry in football can continue. go ravens!

Only a petty classless organization would take your advice buddy. Division rival or not, how you handle your in-house contract situations shouldnt be dependant on another team in the division or a deadline that has nothing to do with your franchise. This is why you attempt to be a journalist and arent a football executive. The steelers, as much as I dislike them, are anything but classless, so with that being said I highly doubt they are even taking it into consideration.

Everyone seems to be back loading their Cap Space……Meaning, in the next few years the teams will be cutting some high priced QBs and franchise type players to stay under the cap. Getting the $ now by restructuring seems to be the best bet for the players. However, I wonder what the incentive is for some of the older players to keep playing at the high levels with chances of injury?

Might want to learn the CBA. Flacco’s exclusive number won’t be fully settled until the last day of RFA window(4/17 last year). So in order for it not change the tender it would have come after that.
