Yes im well aware flacco still needs to be signed, but all this cap room is before any contracts have been reconstructed (you taking notes pittsburgh?) and everyone knows boldins getting extended

Regardless of how you feel about Ray as a person outside of the field (I felt he always was a bit heavy-handed with God being on his side, therefore he should win), he certainly left it all out there. His enthusiasm for the game was, for me, always contagious. He seemed to be one of the few left that openly loved playing the game, even after so long. Losing Birk and Lewis (and possibly Reed) and their veteran leadership is going to be a massive hit that the Ravens will be hard-pressed to recoup.

Also, seeing Lewis make his second ring 13(?) years after his first gives me hope for Brady yet, heh.

or maybe his legacy will be he was the best defensive player of his generation and 2 time defensive player of the year. also 2 time super bowl champ and super bowl mvp. last i checked ray won as many super bowls in his tenure as the steelers. nice try. and logicalvoice…i think your meds need to be adjusted again. as good as london fletcher is he cant hold a candle to ray. if hes so good how come hes been on 5 teams.

This is the first time I have ever seen any comment about a white suit when referring to Ray Lewis. You must be extraordinarily clever to come up with that. This marks the official end of an era as Birk and Lewis are definitely HOF level players (among other players who are calling it quits this offseason).

Hate on Lewis all you want, but you cannot deny that he was one of the all time greats. Even if a player like Lewis was a steeler instead of a Raven, I would miss what he brings to the game.

So if Flacco want’s “Drew Brees money” like he has said, there won’t be any money left over for any free agents or to sign upcoming draft picks.

A lot of Raven veterans can expect a call from Ozzy regarding contract restructuring in the very near future.

I would imagine that the next step would be to extend Anquan Boldin and Jacoby Jones, reducing their 2013 cap figures ($6 Million base salary for Boldin, and $3 Million base for Jones), and adding two or three years to the end of their current deals.

I think it’s a possibility that Vonta Leach is cut. A $4.33 Million cap figure ($3 Million base) is a lot for a Fullback…even one of the best in the league.

Hopefully the Ravens’ front office will figure out a long-term deal with Flacco before the March 4th tag deadline…but if they’re not able to reach an agreement, those three moves will allow Baltimore to use the Exclusive Franchise tag on their QB, and still leave a little money for trying to retain Dannell Ellerbe.

We’ll see how it goes. Go Ravens!
