Ravens “report” that they have Flacco “agreement in principle”

Joe Flacco AP

The Ravens have addressed reports that they have an agreement in place with quarterback Joe Flacco.

In a bizarre tweet from the team’s official account, the Ravens have declared that they “have an agreement in principle with QB Joe Flacco, via NFL source.”  (Apparently, the Ravens spell Jay Glazer’s name s-o-u-r-c-e, too.)

We realize that the NFL has an ever-growing house band known as “NFL Media” that operates, sort of, as an independent entity.  But most if not all teams don’t have their own “reporters.”  And we can’t think of any other time that as a team has used its Twitter account, Facebook page, or official website to “report” information about itself.

The Ravens also “report” that the “[d]eal [is] not yet complete,” and that they “[a]nticipate agreement.”

There’s no agreement until there’s an agreement.  There’s no agreement until the document is signed.

And there’s no reason to think that anything unusual will happen.  Other than the fact that, you know, unusual things already are happening.

Sorry Ravens fans, but Flacco is NOT close to being an elite QB. The organization goes downhill for overpaying 1 guy. Wait and see in 2013!

Can’t believe he’s the highest paid QB in nfl history

  3. ravenator says: Mar 1, 2013 7:23 PM

Pointless. Ravens sign Flacco. Ravens continue to dominate in the playoffs. Get used to it haters.

I love everything about the Ravens. Wish the Steelers could be half the franchise they are.

    Flacco= Like a 80’s one hit wonder.

So, you’re singling out the Ravens official twitter account for something all other 31 twitter accounts have. Interesting.

  9. fukpittsburgh says: Mar 1, 2013 7:34 PM

Well, looks like back to back Super Bowls for Baltimore. Bravo.

It’s funny that if Flacco was such a stud, why did they wait so long to resign him?

Obviously they were not convinced he was “the guy” so they waited and dang if he didn’t get a good run and win the big one. Now they have to pay him a Pelosi load more than they would have months ago.

Soooo…….which Flacco comes back next year? The SB winner or the guy they didn’t think enough of to sign to a new contract?

  11. nfl4days says: Mar 1, 2013 7:41 PM

Joe “the cap obliterator ” Flacco is gonna sink the ravens next year. He also just jacked up the price of the contracts for guys like Rodgers and when the 4 years is up on this years amazing rookie class, along with guys like cam and kaepernick. Eventually this is gonna result in either other positions taking massive pay cuts, or a very significant raise in the salary cap.

Glad they signed him, Ravens won’t see another sb with Flacco at qb, the lucky run is over.

It’s creepy how he’s stroking that unibrow.

Why cite an “NFL source”? There is no way that is official. That is some flunkie in charge of the twitter account that heard the report and had to get the “news” out. It is not any form of official confirmation. That would come via official press release/conference with all the dogs and ponies rather than from something as tacky as twitter.

  15. phillyfanmatt says: Mar 1, 2013 7:55 PM

Considering terms have not yet been released who says he will be the highest paid qb in the league.

Bey-yah! Ravens keep dominating your sorry lesser teams!

the ravens are in store for an ugly season, no way around it.

  23. neepo13 says: Mar 2, 2013 6:06 AM

The Ravens media staff is not in the know with what is going on, except Kevin Bryne. A lot of the times the guys that run the twitter account and website get their information from guys like Jay Glazer.

This is great, Crackhoe has just put himself in last place in the north… They will be lucky to be a 500 team this year. They now don’t have a felon playing Tony Robins…Remember they only won 1 game with out him.. Oh I forgot that’s normal in Baltimore…… (The armpit of the earth)…… Enjoy..

  25. mjhutmkr says: Mar 2, 2013 9:39 AM

Over rate and one year wonder!

No player is worth that kind of money.

Ravens are oldest team in the NFL and will be re-building. They just wasted all thta money for next six years.

  26. jaypace says: Mar 3, 2013 1:25 PM

When did the ravens dominate anybody. I love how fans of a team remember things. Remember they lucked out against the broncos and had to hang on for dear life in the Super Bowl. Dominate
