Uhm…you are aware that the 31 points the Ravens D gave up in the super bowl was the HIGHEST amount of points any team has ever given up and WON a super bowl, right? The Ravens D has been on the decline for years now. They did NOT carry the Ravens to this super bowl. They came up with some clutch plays (some might even say penalties) in this super bowl, but to imply that they carried the team in 2012 is just plain wrong.

There’s only one other safety in the league who would have misplayed that pass in Denver and he happens to be playing for San Fran.

Both of those balls were underthrown.

Underthrown passes are BAD passes, except when you get lucky.

Flacco got lucky. Those were awful passes; there’s no debating that. They hung in the air forever, and Jones had to stop running and wait for the ball to get to him both times.

I’m happy that he got this contract. I think it’s hilarious because 11 tds with 0 ints is looks impressive until you see how he actually played. His receivers were making stellar catches for him. He looked above average; he wasn’t unstoppable like Brees was in his post-season. Just look at some of those catches that Boldin made for him. Phenomenal.

What does this guy have to do to earn respect? One of the BEST performances in the playoffs in HISTORY, yet, he’s just a mediocre QB because he was CAM-CUFFED(tm) all year by a terrible OC? 15 Touchdowns 1 INT since Caldwell was installed. Zero interceptions during the playoffs. Super Bowl MVP. Can your quarterback claim those numbers? I didn’t think so. Move along.

Take a look at Brees numbers during the SuperBowl run and since, with the exception of last season record breaking numbers continue. (Heck he threw for over 5,000 yards last year with a 7-9 season) Lets see what old Joe does the next few seasons?

This move will be the downfall of the Ravens.
What would Flacco be without Ray Rice? Or their D? (which likely won’t be as good this coming season or next).
You give $20m to a QB that can take a mediocre team and make them great, not one that benefits so much from those around him.
Brees, Peyton Manning, Brady etc. Not Flacco. He isn’t worth half that and they will figure that out if there are injuries to people like Rice or their D doesn’t play well.

I guess you don’t watch too many Ravens games, do you? The Ravens record w/o Ray was actually better. But hey…don’t let facts get in the way. Ray was done. He could stop the run but he couldn’t cover TEs or WRs over the middle. He was more of an emotional leader was all.

And “I Can’t Tackle To Save My Life And My Gambles Keep Burning My CBs” Ed Reed…it was like having 10 D players on the field.

Wow, most regular season and playoff wins huh? Without ray lewis and ed reed the ravens will never play in another playoff game with Joe Flacco. Wake up you dummies! what was your record without Ray? and how did this 2nd tier QB look in those games? Lewis was the lifeblood not Flacco. Good Luck. Joe had an epic run last year but you know in your heart you just got taken like a chump and this deal is all bad.

It won’t last long, Aaron Riders just started salivating from the mouth. He’s greedy and will want more then this BUT atleast he deserves it. I mean a large portion of the season everyone was talking about how bad Flacco was and now he’s the highest paid qb ha that’s laughable when the team starting losing in the second half of the season and were getting closer and closer to not even making the playoffs, but yeah he deserves that 120 mill right? Now how are they going to resign half of their team that will be leaving now because they don’t have the cap to resign them all? Let’s see how good they look next year, my guess is they don’t make the playoffs, and the Bengals win the division. And no I’m not a Bengels fan, they’re starting to be a very respectable team though.

I’ll say it again…I’m not a Flacco or Baltimore hater, but this is a huge mistake. Last night I posted that I sat back and thought “20 million for FLACCO? Really?” That’s my honest reaction. He throws a great deep ball and manages the game well. But over $20m a year? Come on. For that kind of money I’d have let him test the market or at least risked the non-exclusive tag. This isn’t Peyton Manning or Tom Brady we’re talking about here. This isn’t Aaron Rodgers.

Flacco’s performance coming down the stretch and in the SB was stellar and I was pulling for him to get fat pay, but $120 million!!?!

It’s been mentioned earlier in this thread, and I agree, that the teams whose QBs receive this kind of money, strap their club’s cap space.

Unless Flacco (or any QB) is a central reason the team is winning, this will not only create cap problems, but will also breed resentment among teammates and will not translate into future success.

Are we all forgetting it took 4 years of Flacco single handedly losing playoff games to finnaly get to the big game? Yayy 2 rings. Flacco had a great run this year. One question when he’s being paid as franchise it was 19.6 million pretty close to 20 if you ask me. So how is he highest paid when others are making more. Also he will restructure in couple of years like everyone else.

Statistically he is not the best. But what qb gas won more games in the past 5 years…. Oh that’s right none. It’s about winning. Would you rather have Matt stafford who throws for 4000 yards and 31 td’s and goes 4-12. Don’t think so. He holds several nfl records but was handcuffed by Cameron. Also he’s a dropped pass away from back to Back superbowls and a dynasty tag. He did this despite a bottom tier defense

Flacco was paid alot of money. Is he worth it, depends on the people that are paying him. Ozzie feels that he is, then that makes him worth it, at least for now.

It will remain to be seen if he gets a return on his investment. The unfortunate part is that while you would like to believe that players are paid on what they will do, they are often paid on what they did.

I just hope they are able to keep Boldin as he is a BIG reason as to why Flacco was able to get this contract.

Good for Joe for getting this deal. Why hate on someone that got what he thought he was worth?

Being 27, winning a playoff game every season of your career, and then throwing 11tds and 0 ints in a superbowl mvp playoffs goes a long way.

The salary cap isn’t a big deal like it used to be 10 years ago. Every team with “cap trouble” can restructure some guys, cut some dead weight, and not pay rookies until year 4 or 5 of their NFL career. Half the NFL will have to “over pay” guys just to get to the required amount of the cap they have to spend.

If the Ravens didn’t pay Flacco who exactly was going to be the QB next year? How would it go over if they missed the playoffs (which never happened in Flacco’s career) due to bad QB play.

Flacco earned this contract by his play on the field, and upping the anti in the bigger games…deal with it.
