The Ravens opted not to gamble, again.
Months after letting quarterback Joe Flacco play out the final year of his rookie contract, the Ravens won’t use the franchise tag on their franchise quarterback.
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Ravens and Flacco have worked out a long-term deal. Negotiations began only one week ago.
Terms aren’t yet known. Let the chase for the info begin.
The completion of a new contract allows the Ravens to not risk using the non-exclusive tag on Flacco, which would have permitted a team like, say, the Browns to swoop in and try to sign him to an offer sheet the Ravens wouldn’t or couldn’t have matched.
