This is very smart. With the shoulder injury we can play him the year see how it holds up then give him the contract. He’s not going anywhere soon its a no brainer. That poor year he had was with a qb who ran east and west not north and south. Couldn’t throw under 3 sec either. He’s top tier period

Eagles woot… That would not work. In order to sign a restricted or franchised player, the signing team would be forced to part with their original picks.

I doubt the Steelers would be willing to do it, but it would be a great move for them since they never seem to have high picks and have a glaring need for a LT that can keep Ben from getting killed.

Same thing for the Packers, but we all know Thompson values draft picks and would never pay the price. Plus they need the cap room to re-sign Rodgers and CMIII.

I would kind of like to see the Pats do it just to mess with Peyton.

The wild card that would never happen could be SF. Imagine him playing the blocking TE for them with Vernon Davis as the pass threat. They already have a great o line but he’d make their already strong run game even better. Kaep and Gore would be able to tare through my Packers even worse than last year!

If his shoulder is healthy, no way they let him walk. That is the only concern for the front office. He already turned down 50 mil, hope his head aint swelling.

If I were a team like the eagles, I would trade the high #4 for two crappy firsts and go get clady. He is worthy of the 4th. You just have to convert it is all.

He’s been overrated in the past but he was legitimately a top 3 left tackle last season, gotta protect Peyton so this is kind of a no-brainer. Hopefully they can get a long-term deal done cause you would hate to see a holdout, well, unless you’re a Chargers, Raiders or Chiefs fan.

A 26 year old top tier left tackle. I’m thinking someone with an expensive QB to protect may pull the trigger on this. Especially if your draft picks are in the high 20′s or low 30′s. It would be a steal.

A college left tackle with potential is worth a high first round pick shouldn’t a proven one already considered one of the best already (and only 26 years old) be worth two? NO brainer if you have enough picks to trade around.

So instead of just drafting the college player and getting him under a good contract for four years, you’ re going to play Clady top dollar, AND lose the years off his career he’s already played? AND give up ANOTHER first round pick? Yeah, that’s a no brainer. Having enough draft picks does not imply wasting them. The Patriots got Nate Solder in the 20s, and he’s good enough to block for Brady. Why would anyone give up a second first round pick for Clady?
