The Cowboys aren’t planning on signing former Broncos and Raiders defensive end /outside linebacker Jarvis Moss, Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reported on Wednesday night. Moss tried out for the club earlier Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Moss didn’t appear in an NFL regular-season game in 2012, so a tryout, even if not resulting a contract, could be viewed as a positive. The competition for NFL roster spots is fierce, and Moss got his name circulated in NFL circles just before the start of the new league year.

Of course, on the other side of the coin, the 2007 first-round pick remains without an NFL home.

The 6-foot-7, 260-pound Moss last played for Oakland in 2011, when he notched 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has just six career sacks in five NFL seasons.
