As a Fins fan, I have to admit I liked Long as the number 1 overall pick a few years ago. We were supposed to have one if the best LT in football for 10-12 years. Long was very good to great for a couple years, but has been a disappointment for the last 2. Injuries have turned him into average or less than average.

i know its hindsight but do you like him more than Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco? (name Flacco's left tackle)

Story you will never see: Jake Long STAYING healthy thru season. elite pay requires elite play. the last two years good pass rushers have been able to turn the corner and get past him. dont give me that "playing injured" excuse. yea you shouldive been healthin it up instead of taking snaps in meaningless games in non playoff seasons, now its time to get paid he is concerned about gettin healthy. and dont we hear this felt better than ever every year from Jake?

OFCOURSE his doctor is backing him at the most important time of his future!

Jake Longs is an injury waiting to happen. He's had one to many arm surgeries, plus the knee, plus the back. So he's fine now,(says every yr) so what happens 3rd game into the season, he's injured again(DL). The Dolphins don't wanna gamble 60mil of on long, not with Jonathan Martin doing a good job.
The #1 pick of the draft is no longer the #1 pick.

Long has been ok for us. Great the first couple of years, not so great the last couple of years.
WARNING: Jake Long said last year he was 100% healthy and "felt better than he has felt in years". He ended last season on IR (for the second year in a row). Now he is saying the same thing all over again. Long is asking for more than he has proven he is worth.
I applaud our FO for not just handing him a cap-debilitating contract.

He's been pretty average the last two years and at times pretty bad. He got abused a lot last year in pass protection and it's fine for him to say it's because he was hurt but he can't expect a team to invest long term in him at big dollars until they see him play a full season healthy and at a pre-2011 level. There are other Tackles available and the draft has several options that won't cost $10 mill/year. Lower your expectations big guy.

If Im Howie Roseman, Im dumping Nnamdi and his 11 mill this season (15 minus the 4 mill guaranteed) and spending it on Long. Peters isnt guaranteed. Herremans didnt look great last season when he was healthy. We need a plan C. Long is an immediate plugin. And if by some miracle Joeckel does fall to #4, you can still pick him.

Otherwise, it makes Milliner your pick at #4, and you get 2 instant starters.
