I know this is a Charles Tillman thread but there are quite of few Giants being contenders posts. Definitely not contenders, any year ever. Every early they either barely squeak in or go on some horrendous losing streak and cost themselves the post season. If it wasn't for that poor excuse for a division, they wouldn't have made it in most years, especially their Superbowl year. They are a team that is frightening in the playoffs but never a contenders ever because you can't count on them making it there. Actually, there only shot at making the playoffs is the weak division they play in that any team could win any year. Who knows if RGIII will be back this are or able to play at a good level to make the Redskins good enough to wins the division. The Cowboys almost always choke. So Tillman has a shot with them but with their players getting older there are many other teams that he'd be better off going to.

spideydog:

ok every team in the league played patsies. yes but not everyone played 10 patsies.

if you want to count the win against a rgIII less skins team as a quality win be my guest but you are only fooling yourself.

I never once mentioned the packers game as the reason they were lucky to make the playoffs but obviously that did help. I was more refering to the games against the bills, cardinals and rams to close the season.

I'm trying not to ruin my "story" with all these facts but they keep getting in the way

by the way not saying the seahawks are a bad team just don't consider them a superbowl contender yet. Much like I don't think the Bengals are a superbowl contender yet. You don;t need to get so defensive.

jcampol:

every team in the league played patsies. they played one of the top 5 toughest schedules in the league. you can list the teams you did, but you seem to forget the 1-1 record against the 49ers, and the wins against New England, Minnesota, and Washington.

As for the playoffs, you seem to be short on facts there too. we were 11-5. take the Pack game (fail Mary), out of it and we were 10 and 6 and in the exact same 5th seed slot.

but don't let facts ruin your story.

If Ed Reed heads off to New England, Woodson wouldn't be a bad move to rent for a few seasons with the Ravens. He's got a similar play making ability and might consider playing for a little less to be on the defending champs.

The Jets are also going to need help at safety with the Incredible Hulk, aka the Dirty 30, asking WAY too much money to be picked up on a team that is already overpaying too many players.

Actually according to FO they had the 4th hardest schedule in the league, but why would you let silly little things like facts color your opinions…

Cardinals twice, rams twice, bills, jets, dolphins, lions, panthers, cowboys doesn't equal a tough schedule sorry. I actually watch these teams play and they are far from tough. All I was saying was lets not jump the gun and call them a superbowl contender after one good year in which they were lucky to make the playoffs.

Lets slow down on Seattle being a contender. One year with an easy schedule and a game they should not have won doesn’t make them a contender. Lets see if they can repeat their success before we put them in the superbowl.

He’s too old to benefit from PED abuse … ruling out Seattle.

Now that's funny but I must disagree. I checked on the web and found that PED abuse is good for old timers and as we all know, it must be true if it is on the web.

Seahawks back in.........

How are the Giants not considered a contender on 2013?

Because they finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs. Plus they just barely won some games.

He’s an exceptional tackler and no one strips the ball better than him.

--------------------------------------------------

Have you ever heard of Peanut Tillman? He led EVERYONE last year in forced fumbles, including DEs and pass-rushing LBs in 2012, including an unprecedented 4 in a single game.

Peanut is just ahead of fellow Bears Julius Peppers and Richard Dent at #8 for forced fumbles in the NFL all-time. And that is as a CB!

Granted, Woodson was hurt in 2012, but if you look at 2011, he doesn't even rank in the top 100 (he only had one.) Tillman averages 3.8 FF/year, Woodson 1.93 FF/year.

If you are referring to interceptions only, over the last 3 years he is ranked 22nd, behind Peanut as well as his fellow teammate Tim Jennings.

Woodson's tackling form, however, is solid. His numbers, on the other had, have to be taken with a grain of salt as the other 10 players do not exactly excel in tackling, or defense in general.

I agree with ppc50, Dallas has needed a good cover safety for over a decade. I know Woodson is getting older, but would still be a definite improvement with what the Cowboys currently have, or have not, however you want to look at it.

Dallas should go after Woodson for their safety needs. Teaming this vet up with Carr and Clairborne could help their secondary. Signing him at his age may not cost a whole lot and allow them to use the draft for OL and DL help now which are bigger needs.

jprcox, Hawks do not have great DB's a plenty. We have 4. When they were in Nickle at the end of the game: ATL, CHI, DET, MIA, the QB can pick up huge chunks of yards quickly in time for a game winning or tying score.

Trufant in Nickle last year played about 40% of the snaps, that's a huge amount of snaps in the season to have someone who can't cover anymore.
